The Hand of Willy verdict thread

One note re the atmosphere. None of the internecine crap between stands that has plagued us so often. All four stands completely in it together and that contributed to what was a rather noisy affair.

Watching the game back sounds like Sky turned the volume down on the crowd. The noise in the stadium didn't come across on TV

Loved seeing the North Bank stand up and sing yesterday, really added to the atmosphere.

Edit - though the shouty man’s new friend getting the stands to ‘make some noise’ was really really cringey.

I thought it sounded like they turned it down at certain points due to sweary chants when I was watching, definitely sounded extremely loud at times even through the tv though

Atmosphere certainly didn't come across as anything special on the TV, noise was pretty constant but didn't seem to be any real volume, like there were just a committed group in a corner somewhere.

Indeed.

It was loud as fuck, the best I've heard Molineux for a long time.

The Billy Quiet is going to need a new name at this rate (at least the end I am in by the South Bank) - good amount of singing/noise, not on the levels of other stands yet but tbf it doesn't have much history of late for it

Brilliant day out - well worth the 8 hr round trip drive on the M5, M4 & various minor Wiltshire & Dorset roads (even if it meant no beer after the game). A pleasure to watch City (even if they weren't at their imperious best) - their ability to always have at least 2 options for the pass is something we need to learn from, but we did test them & at no time did we merely go into sitting 11 in defence with no intent.

Our players are starting to get used to the higher intensity & greater clinical input of this league & can improve this further - they are not going to get the time or space they got last season & will still need a few more games to really nail it down.

First chance I have had to see Jonny at work close up - impressed

Could have taken the roof of the place yesterday. And the two City fans I was talking to in the Boho were hugely impressed by the atmosphere.

And then I went on RedCafe (very complimentary of us, no surprise) and there were posts about Molineux being a library during the game. Makes me think that Sky certainly did turn the volume down.

Agreed on Jonny Otto. He was fantastic. If only Atleti were planning on doing the same with him as we did with Afobe. I would love for him to stay beyond this season but it will be unlikely. He has everything to be an absolute hero here.

Nice to see we are the main spread on the back page of the papers. The Sun is calling for VAR now as the Champions were denied by HandBol.

Which end are you PLF? I'm WL8 near the north bank and those usually a bit of noise, but not much tbh.

What a day that was. Can’t really criticise any of the players after that performance and Jota and Costa were miles better than the last two games, I really don’t understand the criticism aimed at them (haven’t read the match thread). We just stood toe to toe with the best team in Europe and looked on their level, that’s how far we’ve come and it’s only going to get better.
Lucky for the goal but we’ll take that, we had loads of bad luck last week so what goes around and all that. The only negative was that we could have won, we had the chances but couldn’t make them count and if Raul had stayed onside...

The crowd was brilliant as well yesterday, the atmosphere was electric. The after match session was a proper humdinger as well, me and Stan ended up passing out around 10:30 last night and it’s going to take a while to straighten my head out today!

Fair play going that long. I wonder if Lycan made it home?

Sam was absolutely wankered when I arrived at the Boho. Smashed!

I am glad I left at the time I did. A very pleasant session indeed but I avoided it being total carnage. I do appear to have demolished a bottle of red when I got back. I am sure it was very nice, but fucking hell I don't actually remember opening it.

I had him down for being on a train just going up and down the country until Tuesday.

Considering what Stan told me about their Friday night session then yesterday was just keeping it topped up.

Yesterday was the first game for a long time when I didn't really drink owing to the drive - a different experience though as an older gent at least didn't need to visit the 'facilities' quite as often!

I did shout you in the London but you didn't hear me, we stood to the right of the bar as we didn't think anyone was going in. We only stayed for one anyway.

Apologies for ignoring you - clearly need to go for a hearing test as well as eyesight!

There were a few in there in the usual place

Yeah I found out after the game. To be fair it was really noisy in there and you were going for a fag so understandable you didn't hear me really!
