The Goggle Box Thread

I know, I know. As with many things, very much accept my opinion on WWDITS is the minority.
It's typical Taika comedy when he has no-one to reign his "humour" in. Just like Thor Love & Thunder where they let him write all the jokes. Either misses the mark or is just painfully repeated until unfunny.

Tonight's episode of Detectorists is the best ever, chuckling all the way through. Think I must have missed this one last time.

Whilst we're here and in the same vein I really struggled with Breaking Bad.

Way too ponderous and some of the characters are shockingly poor in the first 2 seasons.

And I know I'm in the minority with this view.

Which one was it? I’ve just rewatched series one on the iplayer.

Fabulous finale to Happy Valley.
Last week I said I thought the programme was nearly as good as LOD, Tredders I think thought it was better. Doesn't matter really, two great TV shows.
What I will say is the last episode was just perfect, a real twist and gripping till the end, much better than the final episode of LOD maybe the best end to a show ever!

LoD is fantastic, but the big difference between the 2 shows is that LoD has suffered from massive overkill in the latter series. Happy Valley has sensibly waited a while between seasons so they keep the consistently high standards.

Love them both though.

I’ve been watching series 1 of Happy Valley and I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so brutal!

Think that's fair comment

I read that the long gap between series was because they were waiting for the actor who plays the son(?) to get older to fit with the storyline?

I caught up with episode 3 of The Last of Us over the weekend. Wow. Brilliant and beautiful IMO.
It is brilliant TV - never played the game (or even heard of it really), but its a really good watch

Yeah, I read that too - I've been impressed with his performance. But she also wanted to get the right script as well. Definitely shows that sometimes it's better to wait and make sure scripts etc are decent rather than churn out lesser quality shows due to demand.

Not seen any of The Last of Us as we don't have NOW TV anymore, a bit annoying as the game is awesome.

The third episode is almost entirely new from the game but it works perfectly. The official podcast with the director and game developer is a really good listen to hear about why they made certain choices etc.
