The Goggle Box Thread

I've never watched Happy Valley, I don't know why but I'd always presumed it'd be like a police version of that Dr Martin program that Martin Clunes did, just some la-di-dah Heartbeat type meh.
Erm, no.

Looking for a decent series to watch, available on iPlayer, all4 etc (anything freely available).

I like things like taskmaster, detectorists, ghosts (UK version) etc.

I don't want anything too violent / depressing (I watch with the wife) but dark humour is ok.

Any ideas?
I am currently enjoying the final series of His Dark Materials. Think it is well done to be honest.

If you want something fun and informative, work your way through the QI series.

The last series of HDM was tedious for the most part. One or two decent episodes but I was glad when it ended.

Same with Killing Eve S4.

Another few you may or may not have seen @AndyWolves

What We Do in the Shadows
Arrested Development (one of my fav ever shows)

I read the His Dark Materials books quite some time ago. Obviously there is a hell of a lot more in the books than in the tv series.
I remember reading the books and really enjoying them at the time. Definitely well worth a read.
I haven't yet progressed onto the Book of Dust series, as I continue to wait for book 3 to be released. However I may have the bug when I finish the tv series, and @Tredman tells me they stand up on their own so no need to wait.

On a related note I am reading the new Cormoran Strike novel. I quite like the books. The tv series are ok, although my feeling is both lead actors don't suit the parts. However if you haven't read the books the tv series are ok. Not seen the latest one yet.

What We Do in the Shadows was a big whiff for me.

I do like Brassic, but I find a lot of the plots very samey. Usually the lads come into possession of something very expensive, whether it be a koi carp, greyhound or vase, and then spend the rest of the episode trying to make money off it with a disastrous ending. Rinse and repeat.
Michelle Keegan alone has to be enough of a reason to give Brassic a go

Ive watched loads of qi, to the point where I've forgotten I have and feel really clever when answering some obscure point that I only know.... because I watched it on QI

This is a massive benefit of getting older. I like Bangers & Cash, Salvage Hunters; Classic Cars etc and can often watch 40 mins of an hour long show before I remember I've seen it before.

Seconding Schitt's Creek.

I’ll never forget that thing on Twitter ages ago that had change a letter and ruin a TV show. Extreme Fisting with Robson Green would have made some class tele.
