Ah, it wasn't bad. Some of the acting was superb. Not much plot progression I'll grant you.

Better than LoD I’d say. Probably best British tv I’ve watched since ever. Perhaps tinker tailor is better, but didn’t watch that at the time.

I think Chernobyl, when it was released was the best British TV I've seen in a long, long time.
Luther is also right up there.

The best part of Happy Valley is in series 1 when for a very small period of time Rita and Bob are in the same room, made me smile

I like things like taskmaster, detectorists, ghosts (UK version) etc.

I don't want anything too violent / depressing (I watch with the wife) but dark humour is ok.

Any ideas?

Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing? Brilliant, relaxed, entertaining. The interaction and the bond between them is heart-warming.

My wife likes Handmaid's tail, I watched it for a bit but nothing good ever happens!

I used to really like though provoking stuff, but now I'm older I just want to stuff to laugh at and make me feel good!

If you want to go back in time, the first two series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet were fabulous. I'm sure that parts will be dated now but as comedy dramas go it is up there with the best of them.

Miracle Workers is cack, but at least its watchable. Its one of those where it changes time period every season. There's a medieval season which is utterly dreadful.

Yes, i sat down and was expecting some feel-good television

It was more that even when good things happened they were crushed immediately. I found it depressing and not really something i wanted to watch.

EDIT: Brassic?

I do like Brassic, but I find a lot of the plots very samey. Usually the lads come into possession of something very expensive, whether it be a koi carp, greyhound or vase, and then spend the rest of the episode trying to make money off it with a disastrous ending. Rinse and repeat.
