The Goggle Box Thread

It's gonna be an an awful anti-woke piece, isn't it 🤮
Cleese says it won't be anti-woke. Also not on the BBC as they won't allow him any freedom

Also the reboot will be based in the Bahamas

Plenty of scope to fire up a new Manuel there with new "hilarious" stereotypes that you can't say any more because of the damn thought police.

I've just remembered Cleese's couple of performances as Desmond Llewellyn's replacement in the Bond films. Absolutely fucking shit.

I watched the first 15 minutes of early doors and it really didn't seem very good. Is it worth persisting with?

Half of one episode, given it a hell of a chance there :D

Especially as with any sitcom, the first episode (or maybe even two) is setting everything up.

If you're expecting a lot to happen then it's probably not for you. Helps as well if you've spent a load of time yourself sat around in pubs like that, much like you're going to appreciate The Office more if you've had the kind of reasonably paid but utterly mundane job as portrayed.

Relaxing time is precious! I can't afford to waste valuable evening time!

I get the point though, hence my question.

I don't mind slow burners per se, but it might be a case of right program but wrong time for me.

The modern equivalent in terms of pace and tone would be Detectorists. I get what you mean though, even though I like that a lot I'd have to be in the right mood to watch it (Early Doors is above that for me, for a number of reasons).

I'm still not 100% certain I actually do like Detectorists, or if I just like the music and the countryside...

Finally started Happy Valley

Just hit the basement moment. Fucking hell, didn't breathe for about a minute

I've seen her in a few things and generally plays the same weird little character. I must say I quite like Charlie Murphy who plays Ann Gallagher

I looked her up without ruining anything. Moaning Myrtle!
