The Goggle Box Thread

Alison for me as I think her food is wonderful to look at. I thought Steve got a rough deal at the American Embassy last night as he had the most to do by a mile. I was slavering over that rib-eye steak though!

Saliya had a trifle to assemble to which the missus decried - even I could do that. I didn't say a word.

Talking of the missus, mine absolutely doesn't want Alison to win, as I made the mistake of suggesting that she was cute.

Watched the first American Gods last night. Not sure what to make of it. Obviously just setting things up at this point but still quite strange. Ian McShane excellent as always though.

Yeah, I couldn't quite get on with it. I thought that might be just my lack of interest in fantasy, but it's difficult to see how all the different strands of the story will come together. Thought they were trying a bit too hard with some of the cgi'd camera angles too. I'd be quite happy to sit through a few more episodes to see how it develops, but the missus hated it, so it's seeming unlikely at the moment!

Preacher was similar, though a bit less bonkers, and I ended up liking that. So I'm willing to give it plenty more time.

Reading some reviews from people who know the Neil Gaiman book, they seem very pleased that they'd made it pretty incomprehensible at the start as it all comes together as it goes along. I reckon it's going to turn out very good in the end.

I like her too. Lorna was not bad looking but had that whole MLA with dark lipstick thing going on too much.

Lorna was a terror. Clearly put her make-up on at the bottom of a mine.

i also passed a comment on the prettiness of alison, which drew a comment from the missus about her eye make up being caked on unevenly.

I really enjoyed Preacher. Need to get round to reading the comics.

The comics are great as well, anything written by Garth Ennis is usually of a high standard and I think Preacher was his defining moment. Steve Dillon's artwork was perfect for the story as well and Glenn Fabry's painted covers are amazing. Preacher #1 is one of my favourite comic covers ever.

King Charles III - built up for a while and total and utter shite. Vapid one dimensional characters with a plot thinner than William's hair.

A shame because Tim Piggott-Smith was a brilliant actor.

Latest Better Call Saul, absolutely brilliant.

Think we might start this tonight. I always prefer to let the season run through a few episodes, rather than waiting a week between each show.

Absolutely loved the first two seasons and the direction they went in with his character, so can't wait to get in to the new season.

HEY! Leave my hairline out of this!

Of course, he could have been referring to my thick, lustrous locks. Same name innit

I thought the Charles character was pretty good, nicely Shakesperean, but everyone else was, as Johnny says, just shallow caricatures.

Just caught up with first 3 episodes of the new season of Silicon Valley. Very good and the end of episode 2 had me snorting coffee out of my nose (odd because I wasn't drinking at the time)

For pure stupidness I am also loving Taskmaster on Dave.
