The Goggle Box Thread

Has anyone seen The Replacement on BBC ? Loads of people raving about it. Is it worth recording on a link for the three episodes ?

Top editing ProgWolf. I've been looking for The Recipient!

It was OK, nothing special in my opinion although I will watch the second one tonight. I didn't take to the main character as I didn't like her character in the last BBC drama she was in about her Autistic son. I should really get a life and stop letting such things bother me.

I have heard a lot about it so I might have to check it on iPlayer I guess. It sounds pretty decent.

Yeah, we discussed it a bit earlier in the thread. I quite enjoyed it but hope they keep the focus on the psychological drama rather than make it just another murder mystery.
It takes a fairly common fear - that of being replaced when you have a bit of time off work - and turns it into a full-blown nightmare.

Thanks Sniffer, saw the first episode of 'The Recipient' last night and thought it was ok. Just enough to keep the interest to watch the next one. I'm paranoid anyway so I could relate to everything she was going through, :icon_biggrin: despite her previous mental illness. There are situations in which many people do feel vulnerable and sometimes we make them worse through our own insecurity so it will be interesting to see which direction it heads in ?

I saw 10 Appletree Yard, also on the BBC, which looked at how one reckless moment can be life changing and have devastating consequences.

There but by the grace of God etc....so be warned everyone, and behave yourselves ! :wife:

Without trying to spoil the second episode I thought that it was too far fetched. The point in case being how many blokes would jump up straight away out of their seats at work to look at the baby of a woman who is on maternity leave?

What's pissing me off is the psychiatrist husband, who's married his patient (yeah right!) and continually reminds her that she has a past history of mental illness and therefore everything she says and does should be treated with suspicion. Thanks, love.

Just got round to watching 'The Replacement' part 2 on iPlayer - a few elements that jarred as not being true to life but a decent watch

At least they have not gone down the usual police drama re the death & still not sure which of the 2 main protagonists are on the dark side

Not sure that any of the men win husband of the year though

Also quite enjoying Dan Snow's '1066 - A year to conquer England'

We all think that we know the story, but there are bits I was not aware of which are relevant to the way this panned out & affected how we developed from then as a country

I am going to catch up with that - the first episode was really good and I have missed it since.

Thought The Replacement was poor tbh. Like a slightly bigger budget version of Doctors. Was probably thrilling for architects but for most of us I'd wager there isn't a lot of drama to be found arguing over sightlines and skylights.

Don't know what to think about the new 24. It's not bad as such but it's not a patch on the first eight series.

Looking forward to another episode of Prime Suspect 1973 in a bit. Very encouraging start last week.

You've never attended pre-construction meetings I'd wager?

12 months late with making a murderer. .......... how the hell can Kratz claim the reason there was no DNA evidence in the house was because the killing took place in the garage then claim in the next trial that Brendan cut her throat in the bed?

Unbelievable, joke "justice"

Second series of 'The Last Kingdom' back Thursday on BBC2 at 9pm - clashes with Prime Suspect 1973 so will have to watch one of them on catch up

Just bought a NOW TV box and six month entertainment pass. Some decentish stuff on there plus the bonus of Sky Atlantic.

I've enjoyed The Replacement so far. In fact I like most stuff Vicky McClure is in.

We've got SS-GB, Broadchurch, Prime Suspect 1973 & the new season of 24 to watch on the planner, plus I'm watching Black Mirror.

For some reason despite having all of the above to watch, we have gone back to Season 1 of Jonathan Creek on Netflix and are really enjoying it (my mrs has never watched them, I did growing up) - I'm not sure it's possible for us to be any more middle aged :icon_lol:

Jut finished Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. The storyline doesn't really progress much and just relies on Drew Barrymore being sweet and horny (no bad thing obviously) and Timothy Olyphant being likeable, and it fizzles out at the end, but quite good fun.
