The Goggle Box Thread

New Top Gear was good last night, much better than the grand tour. The part in Kazakhstan was particularly good.
I missed the first episode, but watched the second. I enjoyed it. The style was good and I like the new line up. I will definitely continue watching this series.

The stuff in the studio is awful (wooden beyond belief, not even Tennant could save that this week) but the other stuff is great to watch. 2 decent challenges so far.

Tennant? I thought it was Richard Hammond. I can accept the studio woodeness as it takes time to gel. It certainly didn't put me off.

The studio stuff does seem incredibly scripted, and Harris' angry teacher schtick in the car is fucking horrendous, but the features are still pretty good.

I like Le Blanc but think the other two are toss, Harris seems like a massive dullard who's trying too hard to make it seem like he's got a personality and the other guy is just too excitable and annoying.

Just got round to watching 'The Last Kingdom' - decent & true enough to the original books to not jar too much, though people look far too well fed for that era

Not too keen on "The Last Kingdom", Perhaps having read the books spoils it. Line of duty coming soon, should be good.

Line of Duty was ace. When's that on? I tend to miss most stuff on BBC.

Sunday at 9 on BBC 1. It will be interesting to see what they do with it now the original story arc has finished.

SS-GB - Shite and a lame attempt at setting up a second series too. Like Allo Allo but growling instead of speaking in a comedy accent, shameful waste of quality material and actors.

Still enjoying Broadchurch as Tennant and Coleman are superb and there's still a good amount of tension in it, but they don't half stretch credulity sometimes. Last night's football match involving nearly every suspect was just bizarre. And the convicted rapist on parole jumping into the police car to put the wind up the copper was just stupid.

Agree with that - did read the book years ago, but cannot remember whether the TV series followed it faithfully or not.

As to 'Allo Allo' - then Huth could have easily played the part of Lieutenant Gruber the slightly camp German officer

The book was pretty shite, actually thought the tv series was slightly better than the book.

Watched the short documentary White Helmets on Netflix last night, which won an Oscar. It's about the volunteer organisation in Syria who are first on the scene after a bombing to try and rescue people. An amazing story of selflessness and bravery. If you're not welling up by the end, I'd suggest you see a doctor as you might be clinically dead inside.

Just reading around some more about the White Helmets. Seems they might not be all they claim, with lots of alleged to Al Qaeda in Syria and plenty of detractors around the world. So documentary to be watched with a sceptical eye maybe.

Fortitude season two, there's something strangely addictive about this series. For the second season on the bounce I have absolutely no clue as to what's actually going on but can't stop watching.
