The Goggle Box Thread

Fortitude season two, there's something strangely addictive about this series. For the second season on the bounce I have absolutely no clue as to what's actually going on but can't stop watching.

I really like fortitude and am half way through the second series. That said I genuinely have no clue what is going on whatsoever.

Second series was just a load of stupid weirdness - shame as first series was clever and intriguing.

So far (after ep5) 2nd series seems very similar to the 1st, if slightly faster paced.

Series two has one of the most vile scenes I've seen on TV. I think it was in the last episode. I don't even know why it happens to be honest.

i think the one i remember was before the last episode, but it may have just blurred in my memory.

i found the first series more weird as i was expecting a more grounded explanation to what we got. series 2 just continues that weirdness, but at least you're expecting it.

it's the setting that makes it.

The shaman's second visit to the shower? I still really don't understand why he did that, did I miss something? I didn't see anything leading it up to it and considering he got battered to death straight afterwards I can't see an explanation for it anywhere. It felt like shock TV for the sake of it to me.

It does have a big impact, it's mesmerising. Having said that, even though the story is plain fucked up, there are some fantastic individual performances in there. Richard Dormer, Ken Stott, Dennis Quaid, Stanley Tucci, Sofie Gråbøl and Luke Treadaway were all excellent in it and really enjoyable to watch.

Masterchef starts tonight. I know a few are fans on here.

oh yeah, I forgot about that, I was thinking of the first visit, which was just as bad. i think someone said something to him to prompt him to do it, but yeah, it didn't seem to help in the end. they've left it positioned for another series too.

the acting is really good. Gambon was great in the first one as well.

Couple of ridiculous looking dishes from a bloke who is trying way too hard to be "fine dining".

Some good stuff in there though as well as the obligatory mare from somebody who doesn't know how to cook. I'm sure they're put on there to make us real amateurs feel better.

My favourite of all time was about two series ago where this bloke did sausage and beans. Clearly could cook or he would never have got through the audition and then seemed to be going out of his way to make the WORST dish humanly possible.

I think the custard-less ravioli guy could have done better. No-one to really go instead of him though.

I remember the sausage and beans dish. Utterly brilliant.

Morrissey look alike on tonight. cooking meat as well.

He was very good but I think the woman from Northern Ireland is a live chance to win the lot. She was very impressive.

Since then I have been enjoying another excellent episode of Prime Suspect 1973. That is turning out to be a cracking series.

Love MasterChef, and would probably love it more with a bunch of contestants speaking in accents I can't understand.

yeah, she was great. i couldn't believe the cypriot girl, after a great first round, then chose to present a huge block of feta and what looked like a tonne of honey.

even i can cook a prawn saganaki that tastes good. i think that would have been a far better choice.
