Ha, not a match at all, Dan always fills in the gaps!I can't believe that Dan's photographic memory has finally met its match. Well done, EP.
It was one of my favourite games of that era, I was in the South Bank too, which is where all the magic happened. That Cov game was superb in what was a dismal season overall. Great atmosphere under the lights, Fat Ron getting loads of stick for being Fat Ron and wearing bloody sunglasses for an evening game in Oct/Nov (!), brilliant goals from Veno and Ferguson (yes, really) and John de Wolf's last hurrah on one leg, absolutely beasted a peak Dion Dublin all game.
Yeah loved those PL cup games in that era, Forest, Leicester, Wednesday, Spurs, Ipswich, Palace. There he is in his sunglasses Such a knob.
Bit of a pensioner team they sent out with all of Oggy, Strachan and Kev Richardson. Was always a big occasion when we played a PL team at home in the cups.
I'm like that with Hoddle and Jones eras, I don't go anywhere near as often as you but for the games we went to, I don't remember any of them.No idea how how any of you remember so much about these games. I was 100% at that march as I didn't miss a home game between 90 & 97 but I have zero recollection of it - apart from a vague thought about sunglasses.
Not sure how old you are, but I was born in 82, so these 90s games were during a peak geek, statto period of adolescent teenage years for me where all I cared about was Wolves. No idea how how any of you remember so much about these games. No point trying to work out how my mind operates, I haven't managed it in 42 yearsNo idea how how any of you remember so much about these games. I was 100% at that march as I didn't miss a home game between 90 & 97 but I have zero recollection of it - apart from a vague thought about sunglasses.
Yep, born in 78 so 95 is smack bang in my wolves obsessive years. Moved away in 97 and took me 20 years to get backNot sure how old you are, but I was born in 82, so these 90s games were during a peak geek, statto period of adolescent teenage years for me where all I cared about was Wolves.
My memory of the late 2000s is far worse than of the 90s, despite it obviously being more recent.
Pretty sure Jason Shackell went in goal and unfortunately didn't save a pen. I can't recall who it was against though, I wanna say Norwich for some reason.Oh yes! He was excellent. Did he replace Aidan Davison?
On a similar note I remember Dean Richards going in against Stoke and being dreadful, think we lost 4-1.
Tom Bennett went in against Albion when Stowell (or was it Kendall?) Had his teeth knocked out. He did OK, his kicking was worse than Rui though.
Doherty went in away at Norwich, any others?
Has anyone had Wolverhampton Wanderers from 1994/95 onwards as their specialist subject on Mastermind? When I do the results on the build-up thread from memory I struggle a bit with 2020/21 if we were both in the PL as all those games merge into one. Doesn't help that we were largely bobbins.
Generally though give me a season and opponent and I'll give you the score and more often than not the scorers, 1994/95 onwards.
If anyone knows how to harness this power for actual gain then please let me know.
Tony Ford was definitely up front for Albion that day. Main memories are it utterly pissing down and getting soaked on the front of the South Bank and the fan charging out to give Roberts a carrot.Got very strong memory of Bennett in goal and someone from albion shooting straight at him 1 on 1. Tony Ford??
