The reason for sand on artificial pitches is to reduce friction. When they first used astro pitches in the NFL there were horrific joint injuries because the foot would get planted, some big lump would fall on top and there was just no where to go except to snap...

Devils lost 😔. I've now seen all 4 major American sports live. I can't really include NFL as I'm invested, but of the other 3 it's clearly the most fun fan experience for me and the most entertaining. NBA is all about the 4th quarter and where the game is at then and MLB just is....long although I've been a few times as I like the spectacle
I was the opposite with the Ice Hockey. Thought it was garbage as a spectacle. I saw the Devils play too when they were at their peak.

NFL, MLB, NBA, wrestling, lacrosse, tiddlywinks, cheerleading >>>>>>>>>>>>> NHL

Apparently the rule changes MLB added this season are making the game much more fun to watch.

Where would you put cornholing?

I enjoyed the Hockey but I was probably more taken in by the bollocks off the rink. Great cheesy ott entertainment and that was just the NY Islanders when they played in Brooklyn

Loved the Yankees game but again the non game stuff was great and the Stadium amazing

An MLB game is of shorter length than a T20 cricket match. Though there are quite long periods where not much happens.

Basketball is shit to watch.

I tried watching basketball but the first 3 quarters seemed a bit pointless. It’s just not exciting when the teams are scoring over and over again.

The inverse of the problem most Americans have with soccer!

I missed bull riding off that list too. That would go in front of the NHL.

I loved the 7th Inning stretch at the baseball. Done to the YMCA which was very funny even at the 10th time.

I went to an American Football game in December which was my first main season game in America. I fully intended to get involved in tailgating but it's a load of old bollocks, as you say people throwing bean bags at a hole in the cold. Went into the stadium when it opened and watched France v Poland on a big screen instead. Big culture difference on that front

Hockey is fucking great, you must be outside your mind.
Far too often and not even with the aid of recreational drugs.

It's probably just me with ice hockey, I just can't get on with it.

Tailgating is just drinking in a car park, isn't it?

Sounds like an away game at Coventry or MK Dons.

Tailgating is only as good as the person organizing it. It's either going to be more fun than the actual event, or a complete waste of 4 hours. No real in-between in my experience.

Bit more to it than that. They cook food too, drive RVs in and set up awnings and the full shizzle. It's basically like camping but with cars. Some of them get there at 8-9am as well on the day of the game. Nutters tbh.

It's not a real tailgate if there isn't a charcoal grill involved.

Do you always play touch football as well?
