I hope Coventry lose the play offs. My wife’s Uncle is a Cov fan and he goes on and on about them as if they are the greatest team in the history of football. If they go up he’ll be unbearable.

My play off treble
Luton
Bolton
Bradford
History says one will go up, one will lose at Wembley and the other won't get there

Weren't Luton in the Conference not long ago? Feels like if they go up they'll have climbed the ladder in a really short period of time.

We lost to them when your hero was in charge(ish). The EFL kept giving them big points deductions which eventually got them there rather than being because of performance on the pitch. They had a number of seasons in the top division in the 80s, won the League Cup, had England players and banned away fans from their ground, which made them hated. They were owned by a Tory MP at the time. Thatcher wanted to bring in a membership scheme countrywide and he sucked up to her after Millwall ransacked their ground in a cup match

Aye, I remember thinking at the time "that's sealed it for Ståle", but then we found out that Morgan was apparently sacking him regardless? Weird time.

Obv I can google it but wouldn't mind hearing here what the point deductions were about.

They had something like 30 points deducted one season. Financial irregularities and something to do with a dodgy admin exit.

Just financial stuff and continuing to cover it up. From memory the one year it was about 20 points

Just had a look.
Proper dodgy owners and they get relegated to L1.
In L1 things got worse and ended up selling anyone of value and got a 10 point penalty as they went into Administration.
L2 they had 10 points deducted by the FA for irregular matters involving player transfers and 20 points by the Football League for breaking rules on exiting administration.
Down to the Conference they went

First artificial pitch in the league as well?
I’ll just go google it

Just googled it, it was QPR in 1981, other teams were Luton, Preston and Oldham

The proper horrible artificial pitch as well with the sand on top.

Slide challenges not the best idea if you like your skin
