The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

Jay Rodriguez charged with racially abusing Gaëtan Bong.

I must admit that as I returned from a completely wasted work trip to Skelmersdale today (grrr - don't ask) the only bright point was the CEO of Rochdale absolutely fucking OWNING Jim White on Talkshite about the state of their pitch. It was excellent.

Talksport has become almost no go zone from 0600-1300 with Alan Brazil followed by Jim White to presenters with their pals on speed dial.

Can't stand Alan Brazil, just utter shit slurred for the whole duration.

Jay Rodriguez charged with racially abusing Gaëtan Bong.

I saw the incident live.
It did not look like he said anything.

They had a coming together player turned round and said something to Rodriguez, he made the old breath smells wave hand in front of nose lips at this point were not moving.

Strzight away the other player shouted racist to the ref. No one else heard anything despite players and the ref being close.
Even though he is a west brom player from seeing the incident on tv, nothing looked racist

I'm gonna go ahead and take Bong's word for it.

I'm gonna go ahead and take Bong's word for it, thanks.
Why?

We all know what shelvey said there were witnesses.
There were no witnesses to this and his lips did not move.

Is it a case of believing one over another due to his skin?

Having seen reaction to racism on the pitch Bong's reaction was not the same as others i have seen.

I'll believe my eyes thanks no words were spoken, as much as i hate Albion i have to say i believe Rodriguez, the ref only mentioned it because Bong said it, he was close enough as were others.

One mans word against another unless video evidence shows he said something , which from what i saw in the game and today looks unlikely i'll say he will be cleared. What annoys me is someones ability to drag someones name through the mud with no proof.

If he is found not guilty i would like to see Bong charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

Didn't he cover his mouth in the modern style? Doesn't prove guilt, but isn't going to demonstrate innocence either.

The referee's report mentions Bong immediately approached Atkinson over it.

Sorry but dismissing the claim out of hand borders on erasure.

What good does it do Bong to make a false claim about this??

Mrs. Doubtfire has won Manager of the Month

There is no way that the other 14 teams are going to vote for the likes of Man City, Utd and the other "big 6" to be given a bigger share than them...It would be like turkeys voting for Christmas

It's an old story Darlo. I think the clubs have already kicked it into the long grass.

Yes so the ref who was 10 yards away did not hear anything

I have not dismissed it out of hands i have stated what I saw, you have said he is guilty without seeing anything based only Bong's word.
I don't know All i can say is that from the live pictures Rodriges mouth was not moving..

Seems silly to take either side based on their word, they'll investigate and we shall find out.

The gesture is not inherently racist, though it can be. I remember seeing Diego Costa do it a few times to opponents.
