He's on £175k a week, no-one else will touch him. I doubt Chelsea have much appetite to send him out on loan and pay half of that, even then, who wants to pay ~£85k a week to loan someone who has scored 19 league goals over the last three seasons in 96 games, in a good team that creates loads as well. You just wouldn't.

They're saddled with him until his contract runs out and I doubt it would go down too well to freeze out someone on that kind of money - although on footballing merit he shouldn't be getting a single minute of gametime. He is awful.

Torres is one of the strangest players I've seen for a long term. He was the best centre forward in the world for about 18 months a few years back. Electrifying pace, so skilful and a fantastic finisher. How does that disappear so quickly?!?!?! I think he's just lost the desire, and it's not hard to see why.

He's won both European club competitions as well as the World Cup and European Championships, he's only really missing a league title in terms of team achievements so what else has he really got to achieve? He's been at the very top, lost a lot of what made him so dangerous and with not a lot else left ahead of him why go to the effort of re-inventing yourself at great effort? You can just sit back on your millions, see out your massive contract, have a little run around whenver required and wait for the days to show off your winners medals to the grandchildren.

Perhaps things would've gone differently if he'd taken a step down from Liverpool rather than going to Chelsea, perhaps that could've given him a 2nd wind like Villa at Atletico after Barca rather than going to a more expectant club with a massive fee over your head when your game has already largely gone to shit.

Akinfenwa is a monster from weight lifting. McNulty I think is playing well below his level so gets away with being unfit.

I saw a video of Torres best bits from Liverpool on facebook yesterday and he's just a completely different player. He looks so awkward these days even down to controlling the ball, he seems to have lost all technique and so once in a while it does show but there's just not enough of it. At his best he was fantastic to watch.

That's the thing, I can understand a loss of pace/power or even finishing but to lose even the most basic ability to control a football or have any kind of instinct to get in the right place to score is really odd. I've never seen anything like that, he's gone from one of the best in the world to someone who wouldn't look special in League 1.
