The Film Thread

Watched Mockingjay and didn't think it was too bad TBH. I see what Del meant by 'never gets going' but having read the books, I didn't expect much else in this installment. Far more happens in the 2nd half. Still, it's the weakest in the series IMO, both in terms of the books and the films. Jennifer Lawrence is lovely, by the way.

I'd rate it as 'quite good', but like I say, I wasn't expecting to be bowled over by this one.

'Into The Woods'

The most annoying ' film ' EVER.

I watched The Theory Of Everything the other day. What a wonderfully story, told and acted superbly. Really captures the human side of the story, placing relatively little importance on his career achievements. A really excellent film.

Gone Girl - Brilliant from start to finish. Affleck is excellent as the man who think he knows it all only to be kicked in the nuts several times. Unlike some I thought the ending was just right.

I read in the book review that the ending for the film had to be completely rewritten? I fucking well hope so because the literary version is absolutely fucking ridiculous.

Oh, and hunger games = poor man's/childrens' version of Battle Royale.

The Battle Royale and Hunger Games comparisons have been done to death.

As posted on another thread, I've a week off approaching. What would people recommend that is currently available in our fine picture houses?

Last time I went to the cinema was to see ted!

Went to see Liam Neesons new film Run All Night. Really enjoyed it, very slick, fast paced thriller with some great action, similar to The Bourne Identity.

Enjoyed it more than the Taken movies. Neeson is up there with the best when it comes to gritty action movies.

...

Recommendations? Home, Big Hero 6

Home was the biggest pile of shite ive seen in a long time.
The choice of the girl to be voiced by Rhianna was just plain strange.....totally the wrong age and voice tone for the character.
Regardless of that, the rest of the film was just awful, the whole movie just seemed like a vehicle to flog Rhianna's music.
Big Hero 6 ....great film.

Home just screams Lilo & Stitch ripoff.

Took my daughters to see Cinderella yesterday. Surprisingly not so bad.

Then watched Interstellar last night - brilliant film. Still thinking it through this morning. Wish I'd seen it in the cinema. As someone else said, it is beautiful.

Just watched Interstellar. Bit slow to get going and Matthew McConaughey the wrong choice for me. What the fuck does he say half the time,or is it just me, sounds like he's mumbling for most of the time. Awful voice and accent.

Thinking about taking the kids to see Seventh Son. Has anyone here seen it yet?

It'll be Cinderella or Sponge Bob for me next week at Bentley Bridge, a chance for Grandad to have a sneaky nap.
