The Film Thread

Is it that different to watching a repeat of something you saw on TV years ago, or reading a book you've read before, or watching the same live DVD of a concert that you've got, or watching an old football game where you know exactly what happens (as I'll be doing tomorrow night for Wolves vs Leicester), or playing a video game that you've completed before...

You don't want to know how many times I've seen Get Carter, masterpiece that it is. I've gone through the entire Bond catalogue multiple times :)

Wouldn’t do any of those things either - once you’ve seen it, you’ve seen it.

There aren't many films, books I watch/read more than once, probably a handfull of each, however I do watch some TV repeats and obviously listen to music over and over......there's no logic to it for me

This is something I’ve never understood - why would you want to watch a film more than once?

Because sometimes there are things you miss in a film the first time you watch it? Some things benefit from repeat viewing, especially things with complex plots. And also just because you've enjoyed something once it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it again. I enjoyed sex with my gf the first time enough to make we want to do it again... and surprisingly so did she.

I'm with you on this, for the most part.

I wouldn't rewatch a film unless I'm bored and it's on telly and I'm feeling too lazy to look for something else, I certainly wouldn't reread a book and I won't watch a football match that I already know the result of.

Your sex analogy is interesting - how about if you only ever did it missionary, in bed, with the lights out every time? That to me is like watching a film again and again. Now, if I could watch the film from behind, with the TV on top, or if the TV suggested we watch the film with the her pal, the radio, I might be interested.

There's loads of films I've watched over and over and will probably watch them over and over again in the future. Some I know line by line, word for word but it still doesn't make it any less enjoyable :icon_lol:

I couldn't read a book twice though. Don't know why. I feel like you do about films Jabba, why would you want to read a book more than once.

What's your all time favourite film, EVER?

I decided to have a go at a run of music related films, some I have seen before and others that are new to me, so far I have perused Walk the line, Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocket Man, Yesterday and tonight will be Blinded by the Light, next week The Rutles, A Star is Born and Judy. I'm saving Spinal Tap naturellement.. always keep the best for last.

I also watched a quirky little Australian film about aussie rules football called Extra-time. It is really good. If you enjoyed things like Troop Zero and Hunt for the Wilderpeople might be your cup of cocoa.

slade in flame for realism.

?

If I had a £ for every time I'd watched Waterloo, Zulu. To Kill a Mockingbird, 84 Charing Cross Road, Life of Brian ,Holy Grail, Spinal Tap plus every Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes film I would be a wealthy man

You have made me think of a good question for my Question Time thread.

Maybe not :icon_lol:
