The Film Thread

Went to see 1917. Thought it was very good until the mid film plot twist, thought after that it became a bit unbelievable tbh.

It's pretty much the same thing, but with Margot Robbie in full Pauline Quirk makeup and fat suit.

Watched Joker last night, I’d stayed well away from any reviews and trailers so didn’t know what to expect. Thought it was brilliant, really well acted by Phoenix and very well paced. Won’t throw any spoilers out but if there are any posters who are into their Batman stuff it’s a must watch even though it doesn’t fall in with the canon.

I watched the Joker the weekend too, absolutely brilliant film. Joaquin Phoenix plays a very powerful role, the story resonates well with modern issues. There was the right mix to stop it becoming too uncomfortable to watch.

Loved the joker too and i have never watched or cared to see a Batman/marvel whatever film in mi life.

If you enjoyed that watch The Dark Knight, Ledger's performance was equally as good. Worth watching for that alone.

Yep. Kinda goes nowhere for a couple of hours and ends with a decent 10 minutes.

Terminator: Dark Fate. 1 and 2 were miles better. Impressed with how they did the opening sequence though.

I thought Dark Fate promised much but turned into a steaming pile of CGI in the end. Not as bad as the Predator which is probably one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Watched 1917, Shazam, Captain Marvel, The Sister Brothers and Pi which were all excellent in their own way.

Dark Fate was ok, and if if was a standalone film might be more than ok. Its a pale shadow of 1 & 2 (less said about the rest the better).

Knives Out was great fun. Daniel Craig's accent is worth listening to on its own.

No thanks on the Meg Paul, mental scarring isn't that good for you I hear.

Thought Knives Out was fantastic. Great fun.

The Meg is just staggeringly bad. I mean, it makes Sharknado look like Dr Zhivago.

Once upon a time in Hollywood. Shite.

Yeah, watched it at the weeked and was disappointed.

Didn't feel like a Tarantino movie at all. Very slow paced, and none of the usual witty script.

Also, why did he completely re-write what happened in the Tate murder?

It's hilarious - try playing the 'what accent is Jason Statham attempting during this scene?' game.

The books are even more batshit crazy - particularly the 2nd one. I was disappointed that they didn't follow them more closely.
