The Film Thread

pffffft. Only interested if there was TBH

my word. what is this new rambo film? who thought that was a good idea?

You have to remember that Sly made a Rocky film where he was still boxing, despite being 60 at the time.

He has also played a goalkeeper despite being the same height as me. And I am no Thibaut Courtois as you well know.

I don't think he worries too much about credibility.

To be fair, he was only put in goal because he was shit and was planning on escaping. Think of Andy Lonergan but with an excuse

Oh and he was also in Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot which is genuinely one of the poorest mainstream films I have ever seen.

I let him off mostly as he was in Tango & Cash which is still immense.

I remember seeing him in Over The Top in the cinema. But I was young and naive then. Now I simply should know better :icon_lol:

Over The Top :icon_lol:

What a palpably ludicrous film that is. How did that idea ever get past anyone?

Oh God, how can I forget his appalling remake of Get Carter. So bad it didn't even get a cinema release here.

Should be impossible to turn one of the best films ever into that. I hated myself for not turning it off.

Not sure how you cant see the brilliance of such a unique story, I mean just look at the blurb, a veritable Citizen Kane for the 80s

Tale in which a truck driver with a lucrative sideline in arm-wrestling takes his estranged 12-year-old son on the road after the boy's mother falls seriously ill. The trucker is beginning to reach out to the boy as the pair head for Vegas and the arm wrestling world championships, but the lad's wealthy, unfeeling grandfather sends his thugs to put a stop to the bonding and bring the boy back

Look, that could happen man, you don't know.

Tango & Cash was fucking awful!

It certainly was not. It's second only to Lethal Weapon in the buddy cop league.

I don’t really do buddy cop movies to be fair, I think they’re all shit.

*stops writing 'Boozad & Pabs'*

I like The Expendables movies.

I thought Tango and Cash was damn good.

Going to have to see Last Blood just to discover how truly awful it will be.

The original is superb. The second film is completely silly but great entertainment. The third is utter excrement. I want to see if Sly can keep this run going and make the Meg look like essential viewing.

Yeah First Blood is fucking brilliant, still love it today. Haven’t seen Rambo for a long, long time and can’t remember a lot about it (bar playing the Spectrum game when I was a kid) and never watched Rambo III (shouldn’t it have been Rambo II?). Might watch Last Blood when it’s available on Now or Amazon or whatever.
