The Film Thread

Between Two Ferns: The movie - Funny but no masterpiece. The questions he asks the celebs are awesome, such as asking Brie Larsson if her parent's divorce was her fault.

Just watched Waterloo for the millionth time

Must have been the TCM afternoon version as they'd edited the word 'merde' out the final battle scene

I watched the Florida Project last night. Excellent film with a brilliant performance by the little girl in the lead role.

I saw it on the schedule but the precis didn't really make it sound exciting. Something like

'A girl lives in a motel near Disney World'

Um... yeah... that's about it. :) But it's very good.

Watched The Shining for the first time last night - one of those I've never got around to seeing before.

It's awesome - batshit mental, but I can see why it's revered as such a classic. Nicholson at his absolute best.

That and one flew over the cuckoo's nest are Nicholsons best work.

The shining is a great film, so intense, you have to dedicate your time to watching it.

Am I right in that Stephen King wasnt a fan of the adaption or am I getting confused?

He generally isn't a fan of his adaptations, although he admitted the ending to The Mist was an improvement.

As much as I loved the film of the Running Man, I really think a more faithful adaptation would be cool. Loved the book.

Classic standalone film, Nicholson was amazing in it, but the book is far superior. It is definitely a classic.

Christine is just as good but never gets the recognition.

The Stand is his best book. Then It, Salem’s Lot, the Shining and Christine are close behind. I really liked Firestarter as well.
