The Film Thread

"I'd heard of her but couldn't remember much of the incident" really ???

You forget how much younger and better looking I am than you

Srsly tho, if I had to guess at what happened I'd have said she stabbed Nancy at the Olympics and was arrested on the spot

I watched 'I, Tonya' last night. Absolutely fantastic. I'd heard of her but couldn't remember much of the incident, but this is played out so well, really well acted. Funny, engaging and pretty tense, well worth a watch.

I agree, i did feel sometimes though it was too funny for some of the horrible domestic violence that went on.
IF her mother wasnt like that then i can see a lawsuit.

They nailed the er..Bodyguard/spy/fat bloke who live with his parents character

mother!

Bloody hell, what a film that was. I had no idea what it was about, and after 30 minutes, I had no idea what was about to happen. After it had finished, bit and pieces started to come together and make sense - the whole thing is just a brilliant allegory which you could probably take several ways.

Some people hated this, and I can understand why - it's definitely not for everyone. But I thought it was a hugely impressive piece of film making with strong performances throughout.

Interesting langers. I usually like aronofsky, and have been debating watching mother. it seems to be marmite.
wanting to find the time to go see darkest hour, and also early man (i love aardman) as my bank gives me free cinema tix, but the tines both are on are odd/inconvenient.

edit hereditary appears to be getting plaudits, though i'm not a massive horror fan.

Whilst watching it I didn't know what to make of it, and I still don't! Bit of an odd one for me.

Wonder.

I don't care what you were planning on watching next, scrap that and watch this film. I'm emotionally exhausted, and basically big pile of snot and tears. An absolutely remarkable film

Family are watching Step Sisters. What a pile of bollocks. Now, it may not be my cup of tea, but Pitch Perfect is a good film, To see it blatantly plagiarised in this lowest common denominator nonsense is somewhat disappointing. Christ - there is even a fat amy rip off, who is nowhere near as funny or clever as the character rebel wilson created.

AVOID.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople

One of the most delightful, charming, heart warming films I've ever seen. Its funny, sad, and glorious to look at and if it doesn't put a smile on your face, you're an emotionless robot.

It's on Netflix - I can't recommend this enough.

Yes, lovely film. We discovered it by accident when searching for Wes Anderson movies

A lovely film for many reasons. I was a bit worried at one point that the ending was going to be a bad one, but not so.

I'd definitely watch this one again at some point.

Only tenuously film related but made my eyebrows shoot up. Wasn't expecting to see the headline "Richard Pryor and Marlon Brando were lovers" in the paper this morning!

Went to a preview screening of I, Tonya tonight. What a bloody great film. Such great performances from Allison Janney and Margot Robbie and the story is just insane. You wouldn't believe it was possibly true if you didn't already know that it was! Highly recommended.

I feel like I've been spoiled, I hadn't been to the cinema in 3 years and this month I've seen 3 Billboards and I, Tonya.
