The Film Thread

Have they watched Uncle Buck yet Langers? I bloody loved that as a kid and still do. John Candy is just fantastic in everything.

No, not yet - I wasn't that mad on Uncle Buck though. I might stick The Great Outdoors on at some point.

Just watched 'Little Shop of Horrors' (again) - the Frank Oz/Howard Menken musical version.

Fantastic score, superb lyrics (with one of the best first lines to any song) & a feel good factor to put a smile on anyone's face (plus Ellen Greene in that is someone I could settle down with for many years)

Such a good film. It's my third favourite film musical.

Invasion of the body snatchers ? vegetable based ??

Invasion of the Body Snatchers was what first came to mind, but they lack the charisma of the other two.

What are the other 2 then!

West Side Story and South Park the Movie: Bigger, Longer, Uncut (yes, seriously. I genuinely think in musical terms it is up there with the best)
Les Mis and the Lion King get honourable mentions.

I fucking hate musicals.

Except South Park and The Blues Brothers.

Otherwise I find pretty much all of them to be twee, excruciating garbage.

I've never seen Blues Brothers. Are there any original songs, or are they all covers, like Momma Mia? I have no time for those type of musicals...

Blues Brothers
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Jesus Christ Superstar
Hair
The Sound of Music
Oliver
Bugsy Malone
Tommy

Frozen :)

If you never watch another 'musical' you HAVE to watch Blues Brothers. You won't be disappointed.
