The Film Thread

I've been waiting for this to come out for ages - years ago, I read a fascinating book about the sinking of the Indianapolis (link) and never understood why it hadn't been made into a film. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

You only heard about Indianapolis because Quint told you... :drink2:

I was obsessed with Jaws as a kid, so yep you're right - I remember researching it before I even started high school! It's always fascinated me - that book I linked to is brilliant.

I was the same when Indianapolis was mentioned in Jaws...Needed to know more

It's probably my favourite ever scene in cinema. I love it.

It's an incredible scene and it's probably the reason nobody's ever had a go at putting it on film. Jaws owns the Indianapolis story and no full length film will ever come close to those two or three minutes of Quint.

That's only part of the story though. The terrible lack of justice Captain McVay received - that contributed to his suicide - is a story that deserves wider recognition. All because the Americans needed to divert the blame for the disaster and their own fuck ups which meant they didn't respond correctly to the distress call. Many more men would have survived if they'd dealt with that distress call at the time, instead they were spotted purely by chance after 5 days drifting in shark infested water.

Anybody catch the near 10 minute trailer to Independence Day 2 inbetween 11.22.63. It basically showed the complete film in that time, a complete spoiler and ruined the anticipation of the film..

Wow, that looks brilliant

Remember with Christopher Plummer playing the main character, which he plays excellently ( didn't realise he was that old). Love films with a twist and this has a good one.

Taking the girls to see X-Men Apocalypse tomorrow. Looking forward to it but I wanted to see Civil War more.

Gods Of Egypt. Disappointing.

Race. The story of Jesse Owens. Enjoyed this one, worth a watch.

Just caught up with 'straight out of Compton' (Island) great film realy enjoyed it with some wicked performances.

Zombeavers, on Syfy.

As expected, its about zombie beavers. yes.

London Has Fallen = Stupid, unbelievable, predictable storyline ...... but I loved this one, as I did Olympus Has Fallen. Mike Banning is bloody awesome :Wub2:

I got round to watching Everything Must Go, the Will Ferrell straight role I mentioned on Netflix.

It was alright. Not as good as Stranger Than Fiction but watchable. 5/10.

This can't arrive soon enough. Looks awesome.

10 Cloverfield Lane. It was ok, reminded me a lot like the Room though.
