The Film Thread

Star Wars - Amazing. Loved it despite a couple of plot holes. First movie I've seen in 3d (not counting Jaws 3(d) I saw nearly 35 years ago) and it was great - didn't find it over the top in yer face at all.

Just watched Exodus:Gods & Kings on Sky, typical Ridley Scott, typical Boxing Day morning fare, typical God Botherer stuff but good fun as long as long as as its not taken too seriously.
I managed 45 minutes of this garbage. Ridley Scott is just going backwards.

Decided to watch Star Wars on New Years Eve.

Intending to watch it in standard 2d, rather than imax, 3d & all that shite.

A Christmas Horror Story ( Krampus) . Not your usual warm, happy,Christmas story that's for sure! But an enjoyable 7/10 never the less.

So, Spectre...

Jinkys MASSIVE review....

I finally got round to seeing Spectre and I think that you've nailed it Jinky. I thought the plot was bland, stupid and a bizarre return to the 'old school' Bond that I though Craig had buried. Why they decided to take a big shit on the previous three films I don't know. I think I actually groaned out loud when Blofeld started explaining the various plot twists and back story.

Utter guff.

I did like the Jaws reference though, at least that made me smile.

Fantastic Four. What a let down.

It deserves a 4.

Ricki And The Flash. Had heard it was dull and boring. It's not, I thought it was entertaining, with Meryl Streep playing an excellent part. Well worth a watch.

Watch Ex-Machina Sue. That's very good.

The first half of Agent 47 looked promising, plus Rupert Friend is top quality.

Loved Star Wars. I thought they got the tone just right.

I still maintain that 3D is gimmicky shite that adds very little and distracts an awful lot. The sooner it's consigned to history (again) the better.

Going to see star wars for a second time today. Both times will be 2D. Not a fan of 3D at all. I get vertigo with it.

That was a real problem at the IMAX. The screen is so bloody big, and we were quite near the front so it was really disconcerting. It was OK on big panoramic shots but any close-ups were horrible. And there were times when it made Harrison Ford's head look massive and Rey's look tiny.
I'm really not sure what the point of 3D is. I never have a problem working out what's near and what's far away in 2D. I'm really clever like that.

Been blackmailed into going to see Star Wars today. Should be interesting as I've never really enjoyed any of the other buggers.
