The Film Thread

Been blackmailed into going to see Star Wars today. Should be interesting as I've never really enjoyed any of the other buggers.

Was alright. In 3D. But once was enough.

Plus, I always get some annoying person sitting next to me rattling sweet wrappers throughout the film which is off putting.

Waiting for the H8full Eight to come out, then will have a double bill of that with rewatching Force Awakens.

Watched Kingsman last night and quite enjoyed it.

Watched Kingsman last night and quite enjoyed it.

Was pleasantly surprised with Kingsman too, a lot better than I thought it would be. Fight scenes were some of the best I've seen.

A lot more realistic than Creed's boxing scenes that I watched earlier tonight, still worth a watch if you're a Rocky fan though.

The scrap in the church with free bird blasting out is ace fun. I really liked Kingsman.

The scene in the church is the best thing in Kingsman.

Well that and Sam Jackson's lisp.

The church scene is class but my favourite part was in the bar, starting a top scrap with a pint pot of the middle of the canister was genius.

Yeah the church scene is worth watching it for alone, can't think of a better movie fight scene off the top of my head.

Ink.

Anyone else enjoyed this one as much as I did!

Coherence (2013) tonight. 7.1 on IMDb.

What a pile of shite. In the same mould as Enemy with Jake Gyllenhall which I hated too.

I finally got round to seeing Spectre and I think that you've nailed it Jinky. I thought the plot was bland, stupid and a bizarre return to the 'old school' Bond that I though Craig had buried. Why they decided to take a big shit on the previous three films I don't know. I think I actually groaned out loud when Blofeld started explaining the various plot twists and back story.

Utter guff.

I did like the Jaws reference though, at least that made me smile.

Completely agree with this regarding Spectre. Takes itself so seriously yet has the cheesy old Bond stuff thrown is as well. I don't mind either in their own seperate right but put together just makes for a shit film.

I'm also wondering whether the reaction to Star Wars might be a bit over the top. It's a fun movie and as a Star Wars fan I loved to see a new one. I just get the feeling all this love is just because people have still got the prequels in the back of their mind and obviously compared to them episode VII is much much better.

Captain Phillips

Finally got to see it. Bloody superb film and Tom Hanks is excellent.

Really enjoyed this too, always know you're going to get a good performance when Hanks is involved.

I watched Citizen Kane for the first time the other day. I'm sure it was remarkable at the time, and it was a good watch, but best film ever made? Nah.
