The Film Thread

The Jawas are far superior for me. They have something about them. The Ewoks are just too cute and comical for my tastes.

I don't see them as being any worse than the Jawas in IV. The lighter tones they bring at the halfway point of the film isn't unwelcome either. So I don't mind them. Still would have been better to have had Wookies instead mind you.
Difference is that Jawas are on screen for about 10 minutes and got slaughtered by Stormtroopers. Ewoks are on screen for almost half the movie and unbelievably wipe out the entire 501st.

Reviews are off the charts. A mate of mine (who loathed the prequels) saw it and reckoned I'll cry about 4 times. Sounds like a remake of A New Hope. Seeing it Friday night. One more wake up.

Gah. I have to wait til Sunday night!! Not being able to click on reviews is killing me (even if they say 'spoiler free' - I just can't take that risk!!).

Not bothered about Saturday night as I'll be out for a Christmas gathering - with the people I'm seeing it with on Sunday. I reckon I'll just have to spend tonight and tomorrow night playing on Battlefront.

You are safe reading the reviews in the Guardian and the Telegraph. Spoiler-free (as long as you don't go down to the comments - that is a risk I won't take).

I'm not overly bothered about seeing it tbh, but finding out that Matt Johnson (the the) has a minor part in it may tip the balance.

People loved Ep 1 when it came out, remember.

I remember leaving the cinema after watching it in a bewildered state, thinking it's Star wars it couldn't have been rubbish surely? Then when it came out on vhs I bought it and it was still rubbish, the acting reminds me of old PS one games during fmv sequences you can tell they are in a studio with blue screens.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is episode one is a heartless and soulless piece of cinema.

Do yourselves a favor and see Ep VII immediately.

Not quite as good as Jedi but leagues better than the prequels. Very pleased!

Ewoks, cute?! The were going to eat Luke, Leia and Han, played bongos with the helmets from fallen foes and I'm assuming the actual heads are being brewed up to make a tasty Stormtrooper broth!

Vicious little bastards if you ask me! 4 hours until I see The Force Awakens....

Well I'm an excited Star Wars geek. Less than 3 hours to go til I see it. Can't wait - I'm sat in a pub trying to calm myself down.

Got so excited about Star Wars I even forgot Wolves were playing! I won't say much about it but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A great effort by Abrams that had all the look and feel of a Star Wars film.
