The Film Thread

Watching it at 8 tonight after persuading the little lady that she will enjoy it when she's there!

Just come out of Spectre. A spectacular return to form for Craig's Bond after the disappointment of Skyfail. Although it was hard to look at Ralph Fiennes and not see Voldemorte...

I thought Skyfall was excellent. Liked how they showed Bond's vulnerable side.

Sam Mendes Bond films are among the best IMO

Skyfall is a superb film but it's not really 'Bond' I suppose.

Skyfall is tremendous. Of the Craig films, Quantum of Solace is easily the weakest.

I didn't really think that Skyfall fitted in with the other two. It was hampered too much by paying homage to the 50th (or whatever it was ) anniversary, and moved away from Craig's 21st century Bond.
I had many issues with the story, the biggest being the bad guy wins...
I could happily ignore Skyfall and take Casino, Quantum and Spectre as a trilogy.

FWIW I haven't been unhappy with a Bond film since the days when dear old Rog was phoning it in towards the end. Tim Dalton was very underrated. Goldeneye is my favourite of all time.

Absolutely Goldeneye. Hard to pick a favourite but that one springs to mind whenever someone asks.

Never really been a Bond fan, thought I might be able to get into it when Daniel Craig got the gig but after the promise of Casino Royale all potential interest was destroyed by Quantum of Solace, such a dull story.

I'm also a fan of Goldeneye. It's magic. Probably my favourite too.

I watched Quantum of Solace for the first time last week and I thought it was pretty good. Was expecting to be let down by it but I enjoyed it.

Loved Skyfall. If Spectre is half as good then I'll be pleased.

My call on Bond films in order of Best to Worst. YMMV of course:

Spectre (already)
Goldeneye
From Russia With Love
Casino Royale
Skyfall
Goldfinger
Diamonds are Forever
Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
Dr No
Licence to Kill
Thunderball
The Man With the Golden Gun
Quantum of Solace
Tomorrow Never Dies
You Only Live Twice
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Living Daylights
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Die Another Day
A View to a Kill
Octopussy

Left out Never Say Never Again as it isn't canon, although still pretty enjoyable.

Didn't like Skyfall. Very un-threatening villain, ridiculous plot that made no sense and the awful Home Alone finale. Craig's Bond also lacks charm. I loved Casino Royale though. Hopefully Spectre can match that.

You forgot The World Is Not Enough. It was shite though tbf.

Watched Skyfall again last night in readiness for Spectre tonight. It's a great film.

And I don't really understand the QoS hate going on here. Fair enough - it's nowhere near the best Bond film but it's not THAT bad!

It's certainly no Octopussy or View to a Kill. They are as rank a pair of films I've ever watched.
