I'm not sure I understand your stance here.
The original JP is, in fact, a classic piece of cinema.

Have you been on crystal meth this afternoon Alan? The state of your posts.
The original is considered a classic by film buffs.
The original isn't even original. And which film buffs are these?
Try Westworld (1973) which is the film JP is based on.
Wasn't JP based on the book of the same name?

And I'm sure you can look up easily enough the way JP's SFX work forever changed filmmaking.
There story and base idea hardly paints the picture of a complex piece of film though does it? Dinosaur based theme park, big shock things go wrong, gruesome dinosaur vs. humans carnage occurs. It's all pretty predictable stuff but it's still entertaining, I really don't see how the latest incarnation is really any different from the original. The original JP is, in fact, a classic piece of cinema.
I don't disagree it's a superb film with iconic moments but to call it a 'classic' is utter nonsense.
I guess so, but some people class Titanic and Independence Day as classic blockbusters too.

For its impact on the industry overall I think it should be classed that way.It IS a classic in terms of blockbuster type films.
It probably isn't in terms of the whole history of films however.
