The FFS Burnley 1 Wolves 1 Verdict thread

Controlled that absolutely perfectly after the goal up until Coady giving away the needless foul on Wood which led to the endless balls into the box.

Frustrating and we're in a real battle to grab European football now. Leicester look absolutely shagged, but we could do with them taking something tomorrow and/or against Spurs.

Nuno made the subs I would have done at least in terms of who came on to see the game out. That didn't need to come with retreating and inviting them on though. I don't think it was a penalty, but can't get an impartial hat on yet. Went from Champions League being on to Europa under threat in a second

I think it was a harsh decision but I think it was a penalty. Doc was a big Wendy.

Raul's goal, though!!! Woohooo!

That would have been a huge win. I'm so, so gutted.

Obviously I hope we win the last 2 and hold on to 6th but, looking at the fixtures, 7th or 8th is a real possibility now.

I'll be so disappointed if we miss out on Europe after such a good season.

Football in the UK is Corrupt as fuck

If it is corrupt, it's not a conspiracy against Wolves. If anything, with the potential Wolves following in China, UEFA would love us to be CL regulars.

Not a million years is that a pen against Liverpool, Utd, etc.

Might not be overt corruption, but VAR just reinforces the matey bias our referees have in favour of the normal big 6.

It’s fucking bullshit. I’m fuming. We had the game won and they offered fuck all. Mike Dean got to Mike Dean though.

However we did defend those last minutes horrifically. Multiple simples headers and passes out messed cup, make one and the game would have been done. Still no excuse to rob us like that.

We’re going to have to win the last two or were back to needing favours.

Hit his arm. You can argue dangerous play etc all you want but we all know full well by now it's going to be given if that happens. Even if Dean didn't see it VAR probably would've looked at it.

Awful last few minutes. Stopped playing, didn't clear our lines properly, gave away multiple stupid free kicks. We were asking for it. I don't have an earthly what Rui was doing for Wood's missed chance - we could easily have lost.

Didn't really create much, it has to be said. The front 3 just looked unbalanced and all over the place until Podence went off. If Raul doesn't catch that perfectly like he did we're probably not scoring.

Coady's forward passing was dreadful, gave it away time and again. Other 2 at the back were generally pretty solid and dealt with what they had to well. Neves was good, Moutinho was quiet outside of a couple excellent corners.

Blah. Real gut punch that. We simply have to close games out better and get better at clearing our lines. Put it in row fucking Z for fuck's sake. See also: Newcastle away, off the top of my head.

Remember when Raul overhead kicked someone in the face in a Europa game? He didn't get a booking but probably should have been sent off.

If Doc puts his head in there or keeps his arms down we get 3 points but it's a really harsh take and very harsh on Doc.

We invited pressure onto us when we had the ability to play football. This is something we need to work on to close games out.

Correct it's subconscious bias.

We played well. Rauls goal was fantastic technique. We’re unlucky To concede but it was a pen - doc has to be braver and stick his head on it, even if it means getting a kick.

It was as not a penalty ever, dangerous play by Wood all day long, however as soon as Mike Dn makes the (incorrect) decision it I s not getting overturned. Refs all backing each other up, only maybe Utd get that overturned.

Oh, and let’s hope it’s another 40 years before we have another league game on the BBC. terrible coverage - more interested in showing their ball graphic or dyche’s face than actual football.

But Liverpool & Man Utd never get the same do they?
There's an unconscious bias to the larger sides both on the pitch and in the VAR room. That said the notion that Dean gave a penalty today to favour presumably Chelsea is laughable. As for VAR they never overturn subjective decisions, it hits Doherty's arm in a place that can be considered to be a handball, once that happens irrespective of the fact he was looking away and had a boot in his face, they aren't overturning it

yes, this!

Agreed. Thought the camera person fancied Tarkowski at one point, games going on and just a close up of him for about thirty seconds while Dion Dublin is talking about culture. Wank.
