Don't be a tit. [emoji6]Bit late
You don't know what you are talking about. You have any idea about how that word was used in the UK, prior to you being born, please don't pretend you do. Gay your latest example or faggot your previous one is absolute false equivalence. You have ignored numerous people attempting to educate you and are now coming across as a complete dick (Male genitalia)
And you carry on weakening your argument whilst dying on the wrong misinformed yet somewhat arrogant hillCarry on with your impervious use of language, then. It's always evolving, after all, so it's never offensive when it comes from you, eh?
Ok, this is hard work.Take it up with the ASA. Their ruling tells me it's not nearly the non-sexual term you want to think it is, even in the UK.
I'll take their word over yours.
Ok, this is hard work.
In the last 20 years or so, due to the influence of American culture the word pussy has become to mean female genitalia, although I don't recall ever being involved in a conversation with anyone that's ever used that word in that context, there are a number of others that would be used beforehand, certainly by my generation.
The company that sought to use it on an energy drink would have done so knowing they were trying to appeal to a younger audience, whilst equally being aware that they could potentially get it through feigning that it's being used in it's original context.
The phrase don't be a pussy has been around for certainly as long as I can remember and originally meant you are a pussy cat ie soft and weak. Now I cannot speak for everyone who now uses it in the UK, but I would suggest that in the majority of instances including Lycan's it is meant in it's original context.
For the Brits on here I am not going to down the Molly Sugden wormhole
Alan. We have a swear filter. Use it. End of.
No worries Alan, all good. Not started that new job yet?To be clear, I'm not saying that any of what you've said is false. And I do apologize for my terseness earlier... It's been a shit few days for me for a number of reasons, not least of which involves dealing with customers who would rather threaten to physically fight me than wear a mask in a damned coffee shop.
At it's gentlest, my point is purely that that word can be taken as gendered and that if an alternative word exists (in the case of Lycan's use, "coward" works equally as well, IMO), then that alternative really should be the first choice.
But again, that doesn't really excuse my tone. Like Lycan, I consider you one of my better mates on here, Tony. I should have taken your responses better than I did.
Loud and clear, Pad. Apologies.
No worries Alan, all good. Not started that new job yet?
COVID put paid to that opportunity. I'm on their "bench", so if they unexpectedly get a new client, they can hire me on immediately. Given the state of the economy, though, a couple of contracts fell through and they didn't end up with the funds they were expecting when the process started.
It's been a very taxing couple of weeks.

The onfield ref gave both. The first Friend suggested he looked at the monitor, the second he just didn't overturn the red as it was a two footed lungeI saw that Kevin Friend (the VAR ref) was referee in yesterday's Burnley match and sent off 2 Norwich players. Didn't see the game, but sounded a bit strange. Over to those conspiracy theorists !
