The FFS Burnley 1 Wolves 1 Verdict thread

Kind of - I’ve definately seen those given as dangerous play. He was probably too far away from doc for it to be a free kick though.
I'm in the no penalty camp, but the still in the tweet above doesn't give the perspective of distance

I know we're all disappointed we didn't win, but a point away at Burnley is still a good result.

Nonsense. It's blatant. It's dangerous play. Free kick to us, but Dean is a cunt. And we lose a huge opportunity because of it. It is what it is though so we absolutely must finish well and then do everything we can to win the Europa.

Comms were shite. Called out Rui for wearing No.11 without knowing the backstory or anyone correcting it during the match. Shameful.

Not really in the context of things especially with spurs winning as well.

Jacqui Oatley & Jeff Spelling both think it as an outrageous decision. They are right.

It's that point keeping us in front of Spurs

Doc was quite a long way from Woods but imo it wasn't a deliberate handball, just Doc being a pussy. Thought if it wasn't deliberate or outside the players normal stance then it isn't foul play by the defender

If we do what Watford did to us in January we win. It's really that simple. Take it to the fucking corner and stay there. Simple, done, 3 points, thank you.

It's a decision that could have gone either way. Personally, I think the dangerous play trumps the handball but once it was given it was never likely to be overturned.

Yep, though not because it was the right decision but because VAR is always run by a member of the PL Refs' club who won't want to risk being made to look a twat by VAR himself when the positions are reversed. Put a 'neutral' ref (i.e. one from a different league) in there and that's a Wolves free kick all day long. Having refs pass judgement on themselves is ridiculous. We all know Dean will put himself in the spotlight with a controversial decision if he gets half a chance.

We have only ourselves to blame. It was a miracle that Wood didn't score a minute or so earlier. We should have just seen the game out.

Agree 100%. I thought we played well tonight for the most part, but our game management here and at Sheffield has been shocking. We should have been aiming for 5th now, and I think we'd have got it too. We've handed Sheffield and Spurs a great chance to finish above us, and I fully expect them to do so.

Still really shocked he gave that. No way VAR gives it looking back but once he’s given it they were never going to give us the free kick I think it should have been. A bit silly from Doc I guess?

Injury time aside we played it pretty well. A shame to have thrown it away. A win against Palace still puts us in a good position I think

In real time, from tv camera angle, ref blows his whistle and I turn away - free kick to us for dangerous play, it just couldn't be anything else. Looked back and couldn't understand why our players were arguing.

But from Deans angle it is a penalty. Woods foot was high - very high - but it's not dangerous play as he was several feet in front of Doc. If Doc wants a free kick then he has to be challenging Woods.

Was s bit disappointed with our game management last 5 minutes, kept giving them free kicks which is exactly what they wanted, although they did 'buy' a few, but you'd expect that

Seeing it from behind the goal it’s not as outrageous as I thought I still don’t think it’s a penalty.

As Dion pointed out when Saiss was poleaxed, it was part of the game in his day and he needed to man up, when Saiss does it it's dangerous play ?

I heard that Paul too, similar bias commentary all the way through by Dublin. Interesting that he was bigging Burnley up after 6 minutes of the second half saying that they were starting to boss the game after passing the ball around the back for and a few aimless punts forward.

Didn't Doc do something similar when he got sent off for a second yellow at Middlesbrough? Some sort of airy fairy jump that was interpreted as jumping into the man?

And that's the second time we've brought Donk supposedly to close a game out and we've dropped points. Not a criticism of Donk but we're clearly doing something wrong.
