The F1 Thread

Engine suppliers Renault say they were acting within the rules. I await the outcome with interest.

Confirmed.

So the Red Bull is illegal, but the rules aren't clear enough to outlaw it.

20s penalty for Seb makes it pretty much a perfect day.

Apparently the FIA also found an illegal mechanism aimed at altering the ride height of the Red Bulls in parc ferme conditions in Montreal, and they were told to cease using it without without informing the press.

Where did you hear about this Nando?

It seems like Red Bull are turning into the "New Ferrari"...

Rough translation:

Red Bull had to modify the chassis adjustment
The third case leaked out only at the edge of the Hungarian GP. In Montreal, the governing body discovered on the third shock in front of Red Bull to unauthorized adjustment RB8. On the setting of the damper depends from the ground clearance at the front axle. This should not change between qualifying and race. Because adjustments by hand to the guard in the pits would be difficult to detect, the FIA has adopted the rule that all the suspension adjustments are to be operated with one tool.

In the case of Red Bull but it was easily possible with the bare hand. Anyone who thinks evil imply, might that was in the race previously adjusted between training and racing of ground clearance, without noticing that the Commissioner in the pits. The FIA had at Red Bull, the remedy promptly, without it hanging from the rooftops. Rule, experts say: "It would have to disqualify Red Bull loose in Canada."

Nothing appearing anywhere else yet though.

They've been suspected of having a ride-height system for a while. Cheeky scamps.

Great job by Lewis, in a class of one so far this weekend.

I see again that one of the Toro Rosso's was prevented from completing a flying lap in Q3 as they'd have knocked Vettel out. I can't stand Red Bull.

Is it just me that thinks Martin Brundle looks like he's not wanted in the pits ?

Could be an interesting end to the race if Raikkonen keeps pushing right up behind Hamilton.

Absolutely. Drive through for him and deservedly so. After the stuff he's got away with this year the stewards could easily nail him for every slight infringement.

Why is Webber showing as started the race on the Primes? Surely he didn't do his fastest lap in Q3 on those tyres?

Paul leaves him space too. Kimi has been mega today.
