Similarly I’ve watched races whenever I can going back forever. Watched the first 2 laps yesterday and thought I can’t be bothered - ended up watching the end of a shit football match and an old Inspector Morse.I've hardly seen a lap this year and I haven't missed it one bit. I've come to the conclusion that the only reasons I've continued to watch every race since it got boring (c. 1995, iirc) are habit and optimism. I've now broken the first and run out of the second. Unless F1 gets its act together, I can see it dying. Once everyone who can remember real racing from the likes of Villeneuve (Gilles), Prost, Lauda, Senna et al. has passed away, surely people will just look at these processions and think, Why? I find BTTC much more interesting these days.
Think I’ve broken the watching habit now and very much doubt I will go back.
