The F1 Thread

They're a cracking outfit with two top class drivers. I'm a fan.

The Hülk is a top man so you have my vote. Plus Bottas annoys me these days as he seems to be morphing into Fisichella II.

Wonder if all the members of the Forum would mind adopting Force India as their second team? Eldest son graduated in engineering this year and starts work in their Aero department on Monday - need the moral support to stay ahead of Williams...
I applied for a job with them once and got a very nicely worded rejected letter. Can't say that gives me much of a soft spot for them, but it's definitely a good place to work. Used to enjoy working in motorsport, maybe I should switch back...

Sounds like Massa will be announcing his retirement at the end of the season this afternoon.

Imagine that clears the way for Button to Williams.

Confirmed.

I'll miss him. A bit of a weirdo at times, but a seriously quick driver on his day.

A man that celebrated being World Champion for about 15 seconds!

Is this his decision or Williams going with Button and he just won't be able to get a semi-competitive drive elsewhere?

Probably a bit of both. He's declined a fair bit this season and I can understand why he'd not want to take up a drive at the back of the grid when he's spent the vast majority towards the front end.

Yes you have my backing too.

Massa has been a very good F1 driver, but maybe Father Time has caught up with him. Best wishes to him in the future.

Verstappen has been given a clip round the ear from Charlie Whiting. Nothing official in terms of a warning but a "friendly" warning

Charlie not happy with the Stewards from Spa (many incidents, not just ones caused by Max)

Good on Charlie. He needed something saying to him.

Horrendous crash in GP2. Pic driving like an absolute goon and manages to flip Canamasas at the second Lesmo. Luckily he's OK.

Jenson taking a sabbatical next year. Weird.

Van Doorn had to be given his chance. Suggests to me that Alonso will be off after next season then.

He will if the car's shite. No doubt about it.

That will be him done in F1 then. He will get some TV work (Top Gear & Sky F1) and he has said he wants to do the racing his Dad used to do...can't remember what that was though.

On today...Lewis was immense in getting Pole. Certainly going to see the Mercs disappear into the distance tomorrow. Avoid damage at turn 1 from the start and it should be his race.

The Mercedes domination is getting a little monotonous now. Almost every race if one of them gets past the first corner in the lead then you know that is it. Hopefully they will be challenged next season.

Have to say I've never understood the passion for F1 - not anti car as just been watching the British Touring Car championship

If you want close racing & overtaking then that has far more 'close encounters'

You do remember the near seven years of Schumi dominance, or indeed the four years of Red Bull utter dominance, where there was no racing between the two drivers on the best team? This is far better than those times. Although I would like the other teams to try and catch up a bit.
