The F1 Thread

button out altogether, elex fault with drs so car withdrawn for safety reasons.

Massa now going to start from the pitlane, if they can even get his car to start at all.

Thought Hamilton had blown that start but it actually compromised Rosberg who is now back into fourth

A very enjoyable race in the end. Hats off to Nico for driving a really aggressive race and some fantastic over-taking moves. Shame he blew second with that mistake into turn one.

Hamilton was always in consummate control. He will win the title by a ridiculous margin.

To be fair to Nico it was more his brakes were fooked than a mistake. Hamilton's had gone as well but luckily at the start of the final lap, another lap and Kimi was winning the race.

Yeah Hamilton with that ridiculous mercedes car is unstoppable..if he were in a mclaren instead..

Today is the 21st anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna at the San Marino grand prix. Who can ever forget the awful scenes as Senna's car left the track and hit the barrier.

Indeed. Horrible seeing them carry him from the car. Prof Sid Watkins knew straight away it'd be a fatal head injury. Can't imagine what he'd have been going through as they were great friends.

Rip senna..what a driver and a horrible crash

Needs a few more go faster stripes

I dow like it. They said it would be a grey coloured affair instead of chrome.

Salut Gilles.

Before my time, but I don't think I've ever heard of a more universally appreciated driver.

Gilles wasn't before my time - he was a giant of a driver, 11 seconds clear of the field in a wet practice session and universally regarded by the rest of the drivers as the best of them all. But not only that, he was also extremely fair - none of the Senna/Schumacher style ridiculous behaviour on the racetrack.

I would unhesitatingly place Gilles as the number 1 of all time.

8th May 1982 was one of the saddest days for F1.

Nico has got the pole position he wanted, now let's see how he handles the position.
