The F1 Thread

They were saying fuel usage may be an issue. Hamilton has been much better at managing his fuel consumption, which should play into his hands tomorrow.

He needs a good start tomorrow as it's a long run down to the first corner.

Even if Rosberg takes him at the start though, Hamilton has the pace to get him easily on the straights, especially once DRS comes into play.

Hamilton does seem to drive a little more smoothly than Rosberg, which should serve him well if fuel consumption becomes an issue.

Bad move by Nico, tyres knacked after one lap.

He's definitely got a raw deal being dropped by Toro Rosso, I've been impressed by him.

No football so i find myself watching the whole race probably, thank god for the BBC and Sky, is there any sport that ITV have managed to get hold of and not fuck up!

Great driving from Nico after his dozy move on the 2nd corner. Gave Lewis the win with that, but Bernie won't be happy that 1 set of tyres were basically able to do full GP and still be able to get quick times right at the end.

He is limited by the terrain of the Olympic park, but Tilke looks like he designed a bit of a dud track. The semi-circle curve around the Olympic flame could have been an immense corner, reminiscent of the parabolica at Monza, with loads of drivers trying to go right round the outside to get the inside of the 90 degree corner following, but the issue is that there is a 90 degree corner into that curve as well. It needs a straight run up to make the curve work. As it is, it is dull, dull, dull.

Its a quick track, plenty of places to over take but as the tyres stayed good it took away a lot excitement. Can pretty much guarantee that next year the tyres wont last 53 laps.

If they made the compounds super soft and soft would that solve the problem?

It just depends on the track. Some tracks are immensely hard on tyres, and this clearly isn't one, possibly because the surface is so new.

If we get to the super-softs all the time and people creeping round on fucked tyres after about six laps that will be far worse than the current situation.

I think a lot of credit has to be simply given to Rosberg for nursing that set of tyres for 52 laps and still being very, very quick.
