But will that be the case with the tyres? Surely if the wear is so low then by using the softer compound it will just bring it on line with other tracks?

They were going in blind today, very limited data to work with and you have to err on the side of caution if you just don't know. As Kenny says, won't happen next year.

But how can they stop it happening? Change the compounds?

Yep, they will. Pirelli have to choose in advance what they're taking, in hindsight the mediums were too durable for this track. Next year they won't be taken at all in all likelihood.

The softs were good for 20-25 laps. So soft and super soft will be used next time

I think they will do that. You want it right on the cusp of two stops being needed without it being compulsory, so that you get people trying different strategies.

The Father of Jules Bianchi says that every time his telephone rings, he fears it may be the hospital with bad news. Apparently the medical team said it was a miracle that he survived the accident.

Alonso says he might join Mercedes next season, but haven't they signed up both Hamilton and Rosberg for 2015?

Hamilton's contract runs to the end of this season I believe, but they have been in discussions to extend it. If anyone goes it'll be Rosberg.

In car tweets coming soon? :)

Has he said that? There is a rumour he is either signing for McLaren or taking a year off and then be open for a move to Mercedes.

He will sign for McLaren, if they have a shit season he will be out of there pretty fast though.

He hasn't said that. He's said he won't be driving in a car with a Mercedes engine.

Neither Williams nor Lotus, both of whom will use the standard-setting Mercedes V6 turbo hybrid in 2015, are an option for Alonso, who said after the Russian Grand Prix that he did not think he would be using a Mercedes power-unit next year.

Quote from the BBC story. Not conclusive but it does point in that direction

It was on the chequered flag podcast in an interview, he was fairly definite. He said he won't be in a team using a merc engine (don't know if that rules merc out themselves?) And he also said that where he end up well be very obvious when we find out..

Judging by what the American reporter on there said there is zero chance of Hamilton leaving Mercedes - he's the only F1 star in the US and is fronting all mercedes and F1 advertising over there too (he's under contract till end of next season too)

Love how they keep Maldonaldo despite him being shit, and frankly fucking dangerous. Couldn't be all the money he brings at all.

What choice do they have though if they're reliant on that money? Willingly be far less competitive by losing him and the money he brings, potentially even fold completely if they're that dependant on it.

That is almost certainly the case, to be fair.

I just find it incongruous to see a poor driver like Maldonado confirmed in a slot when considerably better drivers are going ot struggle to get a seat.
