Your best hope is Ferrari improving their package slightly, as Alonso is dragging a pile of shite of a car far higher than it should be, or maybe Williams continuing their improvement over the rest of the season.

agree, Alonzo is a quality driver and gets more than maximum of his car..vettel is also quality. Mercedes have a big gap but hamilton always have been a fast driver..Rosberg has done very well this season too..is it possible somehow to get it more even with restricting it further?

Hopefully there'll be a lot of focus on Hamilton working his way through the field, that should be fun.

15th to 2nd by lap 4 if his last 2 races are anything to go by.

Last year was the worst season ever. Vettel being 15 seconds clear of everyone a few laps in was silly. At least this year the dominant team has competition

The Mercedes battle is much better for viewing this season, but Hamilton's bad luck is starting to piss me off.

Looking like Lewis will be starting from the pit lane.

Looks like there are allowing a change of brakes on Hamilton's car which would me he could start from the grid. However the crash borked his gear box, so new one in and a 5 place penalty means if they allow a grid start it will be from 20th.

A good start is essential for Hamilton. If he gets stuck behind the slower cars then any chance of a podium finish will be compromised.

Not many will hold him up. Speed advantage and a track that is great for passing. Podium might be a stretch though as the Williams were not that much slower than the Mercs. Hamilton's aim should be getting in the points and then take each one as a bonus. Just hope he avoids contact at the start but with his luck so far, I expect Maldonado to flatten his car.

and speaking of Pastor......Zero points for Lotus, awful driving + sponsorship money = NEW DEAL for him! Madness

oh and there is a chance of rain during the race as well.

I think the main problem will be if Hamilton gets too aggressive. With his car and his ability he should be able to get into the top ten fairly quickly

Unreal isn't it. He went off three times in Q1 yesterday FFS.

He showed he has ability to handle the situation in Austria and Silverstone. Obviously he is further down the grid but I think he has shown he has matured a little bit this season. He will want to get off the start and the first few corners intact and then will attack. With his speed and ability he will pick off a lot of cars quickly.

Niki Lauda just told me they haven't made a decision whether to start in pitlane or from P20 yet. Guess they're keeping weather options open

Also just been told that both Mercedes have changed brakes

Surely they'd prefer to start from the grid and try and make a few places up from the start. From the pits he's going to be dead last for the first few corners.

Is an odd one. Only thing I can think of is it keeps him away from any accidents at the start

I agree, it will keep him away from any chaos at the start, and it should not take him long to start overtaking the back markers.

One possible problem, there is clearly an issue with the braking system on both cars.

I don't think there is. Just a precautionary change to a different batch of discs I'd imagine.

Yep. The disc that failed was less than 5 laps old. The failure was nothing to do with the system.

Apparently they change between 2 suppliers, depending on what the driver feels is the best for the race. After yesterday, Merc are not willing to risk the other discs from that supplier.
