The F1 Thread

FFS. They've already got one crash happy driver (though not as much this season).

Lotus want Hulkenberg. Well Boullier does, but at the moment they're being backed into a corner as their parent company haven't confirmed the funding for next season yet so they can't confirm the deal. Pastor only has a shot at the drive because he'll bring the funding.

Nico needs to be in a top car. He's superb.

Sounds like Kimi might be out of the door before the season ends too.

Just watched the start hoping for a massive pile up, Vetel in the lead, zzzz!!

Absolute snoozefest already. Another woeful track too.

It is not Vettel's fault that he is so much better than the others. It is up to them to raise their game.

Only Webber really has a shot at him and he's not in the same league. The car is in a different class to anything as Seb alluded too today.

Massa to Williams is confirmed.

Sounds like Perez will be ditched by McLaren too.

The McLaren one is odd, bringing in a young rookie in a season when there's a massive regulation change. Surely two experienced drivers to develop the car would be the main aim?

Perez needs to go as he's seriously out of his depth and with the Honda partnership coming in for the 2015 season they need someone better than that. Considering Magnussen as a replacement is bizarre though.

He's been very quick in all the tests he's been involved in. A huge risk though.

If they're after an obvious improvement they should have sounded out Hulkenberg before Lotus. They're evidently chasing Alonso for 2015 too.

Will Jenson still be around in 2015? He'll be 35 by then. I like him as a person and he's magic in the wet, but is he ever going to seriously challenge for a title again? Unlikely I would say.

Button is a good, dependable driver for Mclaren to have while they're not title challengers but they need an improvement if and when they produce a title challenging car. I agree with Nando, they really should have been looking at Hulkenberg and should have had him this year instead of Perez in the first place.

Magnussen deal now done too apparently.

Where does this leave Perez? I'd say he's good enough to retain a drive somewhere.

Possibly replacing Di Resta at Force India?

Lotus asked Schumacher to drive the last two races of the season :icon_lol: Thankfully he said no and Kovalainen will do it instead.

You have to wonder what the best young drivers in GP2 are thinking when you get nonsense PR-led moves like that and pay drivers who have no real business being on the grid occupying loads of the seats at the lesser teams.

Disappointed.

Valsecchi should have been given the chance to prove his worth. What's the point in him being the classified reserve driver if he's just going to be shunted out? He's the reigning GP2 champion too!

What an absolute wanker Maldonado is. Piss off out of F1 you ungrateful sod. It makes me livid that he'll be driving a Lotus next year and Hulkenberg increasingly looks like he'll be shafted out.

I agree. I can't stand him either. Not just his persona but his disgraceful driving in the past.

It may not be good for the sport, but Vettel seems to be on another level to the other drivers.

Congratulations to him on another exceptional performance,
