The Definitive TWF Wolves XI Thread (2019 version) - 1970 - present

No Dean Richards? I thought that prior to his injury he was better than any other centre half that we'd had until Boly.

He had half a good season in a dreadful team, then was mostly crap, then left us on a free after we'd bothered to look after him through a load of injuries.

I'll pass thanks.

I never actually had the fortune to see Dea Richards play live. Might have seen him on TV.
Curle was an ace captain for us. I really hope he's able to make a managerial career for himself.

I thought Mark Venus played mainly at left back for us.

I wouldn't have thought of him as a best XI CB. Still, it's your choice.

PS deutsch, I've always classed Veno as a left back, assuming he filled in occasionally at CH when we were desperate.
I didn't realise his preferred position was CH until I just saw it on wiki!

edit seems dino & I cross posted.

Tom or Ryan?

Tom Bennett had a few magnificent games after being put in at centre half, seemed to recall away at Forest in an FA Cup third round tie he was outstanding. Injured his back not long after and was out for ages before being sold on to Stockport if I remember correctly.

Venus played almost exclusively at CH after his back injury in 1991. A tiny bit in defensive midfield. He was no LB after that.

Always a CH for Ipswich.

Joleon Lescott
Willy Boly
Dean Richards
Keith Curle
Conor Coady
Ludo Pollet

Couldn't find a spot for John de Wolf :confused-smiley-013

I will bow to your memory, as I can't recall what I had for tea last night, let alone where Veno played in 1992!

1. Lescott
2. Boly
3. Coady
4. Berra
5. Bennett
6. Craddock

Didn't see either of Pollet or Richards unfortunately.

Could have put Tom Bennett down for goalkeeper. Magnificent effort against the shit when they nobbled Mickey Stowell

The first 3 play as first choice though you can bring Joleon on to cover any - as an old git Frank will be one of the few from that era I would pick seeing as how we are going 3 - 5 - 2 which none of them really played.

Copied mine from the last thread first as I remember it being quite hard to pick, might as well update from that.

Nearly included Pollet instead of Coady, however, Coady has performed in Prem for whole season. Pollet I seem to remember was peripheral by the time we came up in 2003.
