The Definitive TWF UK & Ireland XI (1970 - present) - ST VOTING OPEN

Ferdinand
Mcgrath
Terry
Hansen
Campbell
Ratcliffe

Rio F
Colin Hendry
Paul McGrath
Sol Campbell
John Terry
Martin Keown

I thought Colin Hendry was ace, and reading how his wife died was so avoidably tragic

Rio Ferdinand
Tony Adams
Paul McGrath
Colin Hendry
Martin Keown
Sol Campbell

Hendry included because of how bloody good he was for Blackburn but also because I've been to his family's florist shop. Very pleasant people. I can't give John Terry a vote as I can't abide him, even though he'd have been included based on ability. I can't stand Campbell either but hey - I'm controversial and inconsistent. And DW banned Eric Young votes. #nazirulemaker

1. Des Walker
2. Tony Adams
3. Steve Bruce
4. John Terry
5. Rio Ferdinand

I never really understand this argument, it reminds me of the Harry Enfield sketch that they showed again at the weekend where the Liverpool team takes on a team from the turn of the 20th century. If Matthews was the best of his generation of course he would have still been at the top of the game today, he'd just be quicker, fitter, stronger, live a different lifestyle, not play on bogs of pitches, wear heavy cotton kit or ankle high boots etc. The same goes for any of the greats, the exception potentially being 5 foot 8 centre halves or keepers, but again today they wouldn't be 5 foot 8 so even that really is a red herring

Nah don't get that. Half the fuckers in the 50s smoked 40 a day.!

Ferdinand
King
Campbell
Adams
Terry
Hendry

Tony Adams
John Terry
Colin Hendry
Jody Craddock
Paul McGrath
Ledley King

I added Jody because in our most recent 2 survival seasons in the top flight he gave his heart for us and is still one of my favourite centre halves for us

Rio Ferdinand
Ledley King
John Terry
Ugo Ehiogu
Tony Adams
Sol Campbell

Terry
King

Ferdinand
Woodgate
Hendry

Surprised Bobby Moore isn't getting more votes, pardon the pun. In history he is right up there with the greats and he played until 77 in England. Real class even in his later career

Alan Hansen (the player Rio Ferdinand wishes he was)
Ledley King
Paul McGrath
Jonathon Woodgate
Mark Lawrensen
Gary Pallister

No Rio because he's a drug test avoiding cheat.

But by your own analysis he wouldn't do well today, because he was always on the piss.

Tony Adams
Rio Ferdinand
Des Walker
Emlyn Hughes
Paul McGrath
Allan Hansen

No space for John Terry but when this final XI win something he can always put a football kit on and join the celebrations...

McGrath
Hansen
Adams
Lawrenson
Ferdinand
Ratcliffe (underated, fuck even made Derek Mountfield look good)

Shows the lack of quality of present day centre halves that only Terry is getting a mention

Ledley King
Rio Ferdinand
Sol Campbell
Des Walker
Jonathan Woodgate
John Terry
