They so much money. Why give Bairstow or Curran a contract? Are they hoping to say no if they are called up?

Big shot across Pope's bows given he's VC

Bairstow, Pope and Curran are existing multi-year deals that were signed last year

Stokes, Buttler and Atkinson are the three previously contracted players that have signed new deals

The blue dots are brand new contracts to players who didn't have one before

First ODI line-up (6pm start), Windies won the toss and bowling:

Salt
Jacks
Cox
Bethell
Livingstone
Curran
Mousley
Overton
Archer
Rashid
Turner

Putting Mousley in below Curran is setting the kid up to fail. Bats at 3 or 4 for Warwickshire (granted in T20) ahead of Bethell, yet 4 and 7 for England.

This Overton nonsense is unreal. Didn't bowl again, so a specialist number 8. But he isn't a spare batsman hidden away to slog at the death (which would be weird anyway), he's not even a good number 8. And he's 31 before the start of next season so hardly a long term pick.

I get this is second string due to the stupid scheduling but at least pick someone that makes some sense.

Going off an article I read on the beeb yesterday, it's surely something they can't continue with. They were saying you've got Root coming back, Brook, Buttler (potentially not keeping) Stokes potentially coming back, Smith potentially keeping, Duckett at the top of the order. There's not a lot of bowling in that top 6 so 7-11 would need to bowl

I know that it has been said on here for a while but....

Furthermore, some of England's debutants lacked experience of 50-over cricket, with Jordan Cox, 24, and Dan Mousley, 23, playing their first List A games in 20 months and three years respectively.

So we had a 23 year old making his international debut in a format he last played 3 years ago in almost a reserve XI format and I'd guess just a handful of List A games in total.

Into the 34th over today and Curran hasn't bowled.

Not that I ever want him to bowl as he is wank, but he's a batsman now is he? With one 50 in 25 ODI innings and an average of 23?

He's finally had a bowl now, as has everyone except Salt (keeper) and Cox

Good knock from Livingstone here.... 19 from 22 needed.... 5 wickets in hand.

Well Livingstone polished that off quickly! Well done Sir. Great knock. 78 from his last 28 balls to end on 124 not out as England wrap it up. Series now 1-1. 5 wicket win.

India absolutely owned by New Zealand again. 3-0 away test victories in India are absolute hen's teeth.

Have they ever been whitewashed before? That’s an incredible result, New Zealand have no right to be as consistently good as they are.

India needed 25 and had 3 wickets left. And lost by 25.

all the innings were pretty short in terms of overs. I havent seen the action, so no idea if a turner bit india on the arse.

11 for Deepak Patel (i think) for NZ, so clearly a spin paradise

Apologies - it was Ajaz Patel

I'm going to use this as an excuse for great cricketers in club cricket moments. My best mate at school in the early eighties was in a bit of a cricket family, and his older brother played club cricket with Rob Bailey just before Bailey was picked up for Northants. Said older brother considered his finest hour to be hitting (i assume an aging) Bishan Bedi for four. He was out next ball though.
