The Cricket Thread

Have they ever been whitewashed before? That’s an incredible result, New Zealand have no right to be as consistently good as they are.
They lost 2-0 at home in a 2 match series to Cronje era South Africa about 25 years ago.

Never 3-0.

I didn’t play against him but Rashid Latif played for a club near Uttoxeter called Marchington. I had the same umpire the following week and he said that he’d bowled left and right arm during the same game. I think he kept wicket for Pakistan.
Phil de Freitas occasionally turned out for a team in Burton called Winshill after he retired from first class cricket. I think he lived there and would get his arm twisted if they were short.

Very random. My youngest played for Stafford U8s at Marchington a couple of months ago. Lovely ground but could not imagine it having an international playing there.

They weren’t even playing in a decent league at the time. Either Premier or Division One of the Burton league, nothing special at all.

My lad played against Dan Mousley a couple of times as a junior. He was batting with Livingston when the winning runs were scored yesterday. He was definitely something special from a young age.

Sorry, it was the living rather than the playing part that would surprise me. Unless there's a nice part I've missed
Ah OK. I’m sure thats what their lads told me when playing against them.

Played against quite a few test players in Shropshire. Some current internationals when doing so.

Tino Best, Phil Simmonds, Jimmy Adams and the Manack cousins (or brothers I can't remember) in the mid/late 80's from when SA were still banned immediately spring to mind.

Back to Ind vs NZ vs a second, Kohli has been a disaster this decade.

Since 1 January 2020:

34 Tests, 1,838 runs @ 31.68 (2 x 100, 9 x 50)

Contrast to Joe Root in the same period:

60 Tests, 5,395 runs @ 55.05 (18 x 100, 19 x 50)

Similar to my encounter with Tino. Only difference being that the second ball hit me in the ribs and I had the bruise for the rest of the summer.

Jofra declaring for the IPL shows a distinct lack of self awareness on his behalf and weak management from Key.

Nice bit of biff from Overton & Jofra to get us a decent score in the end.

Not the best call to bowl Rutherford!

Windies coasting. Curran in a totally shocking occurrence is getting some biff and his figures are dogshit.
