According to Daz Hale it was a charity event hosted by Ikeme. I agree the optics aren't great, but there is mitigation.

Ikeme was on the card. These optics didn’t exactly fill me with confidence for the game today when I saw them late last night.

Karoline Leavitt would blush at the spin the looming Fan Forum will churn out. While the credulous will suck up the key message (next season will be a challenge and therefore mid table is a success), the reality is the best we can hope next year is that we’ll fight relegation rather than plan for it.

I’m not sure I can face more home games. Edward’s performative apologies to pin the blame on anyone else might be too much to bear.
