The Cricket Thread

Fingers pointed at - the declaration, too many starts not being converted, lack of robust spinner, sloppy keeping, Jimmy looking impotent - we’re not a million miles away though.

They've still got plenty of questions themselves.

Warner still doing fuck all
Labuschagne not in form and one away hundred ever
Head doesn't look like he's going to match his home form based on that
Green with a nothing performance
Boland got smashed everywhere
Hazlewood barely bowled

Biggest miss for them Imo was Stark

Fair play on 5 Live to Kevin Howells just now: “after all that high octane cricket, something for the traditionalist: a bit of 20 20…”

The person I feel most sorry for in all of this is @Paddingtonwolf… he lives amongst them now and will be having a miserable breakfast!

My “Australian” brother in law has already messaged me. He’s the worst kind, a Scottish born, naturalised Aussie and chairman of the ABE community :ROFLMAO:

Dropped catches and an unnecessary declaration have cost the game. Absolutely no need for the declaration and another 20 runs could have made all the difference.

Hell of a lot happened between that declaration and today. Australia first innings was the problem we could’ve easily had a 60-70 run lead. People also forgetting the 20 minutes on Sunday when batted with the ball hooping everywhere and losing 2 wickets.

No 50s in the second innings.

You can pull at loads of threads. No guarantees how many we'd have made if we didn't declare.

Had a great 2 days at Edgbaston, aside from the result of course.

Seemed some strange tactics today, especially bowling to Cummins and Lyon at the end. When Khawaja went I thought that was it, still needed 50+

Not sure why we just went short all the time with the field deep, Cummins especially looked very comfortable with it.

Will be a cracking series, questions still for both sides to answer.

Edit - When Khawaja went they needed 70, it was Carey who went to leave them 8 down and needing 50+ still

I could name at least half a dozen errors in the game before the declaration comes into the equation. I’m still fuming at the tactics of spreading the field far and wide and continuing to bowl short rubbish at nine and ten. Decent to just short of a decent length had them in trouble and the surprise short delivery should have been the way to go.

Understand why people gave a downer on Bairstow behind the stumps but there were a number of individual errors, that's the nature of that style. Doubt they'll change much for the next test unless they drop Crawley for Foakes.
It's not usual for Bairstow to makes that many mistakes is it?
