We couldn't take 20 wickets with what we had, we can't go in even lighter on bowling and expect to win, and stacking the batting like that is something you might do at 1-0 up, not 1-0 down. If Mo drops out then it's for another bowler, be it seamer or spinner.
Having Bairstow as opener is the kind of gambit that *could* work but I wish people (not so much on here) wouldn't fire it out as an "obvious" solution, he has literally never ever done it for anyone in red ball cricket. The whole point with the surfeit of batsmen once Brook emerged and Bairstow regained fitness is that there is NO obvious solution.
We absolutely won't go back to Foakes after one Test and again, I wish people wouldn't pretend he's 100% infallible behind the stumps, of course he isn't. The Khawaja "chance" late on day four is not one I would have backed him or anyone to take.
