The Cricket Thread

There's nothing glamorous about Liam Dawson but he's a far better red ball cricketer than Mo these days, it's not even close.

Mind you, think it's a bit of a minefield at The Ageas today. Athers' lad took 7 wickets, before today he'd taken 1 wicket for 160 in his whole career!

Kyle Phillip banned for his action, no idea who he is or what his action is like. Anyone know of any videos etc?

Never heard of him tbh but a quick google looks like his arm is a bit bent. Tbh it’s not that obvious - definitely seen worse

doesn’t look that bad in real time but slowed down it a clear throw. But tons of spinners have been way worse.

It’s in the wrists very slight chucking motion by the looks of it in slow motion

Wrist flexion is completely legal, it’s a fundamental part of fast bowling. If your not flexing your wrist then your going to struggle to bowl above 60mph

No Wood or Moen but Tongue is, erm, in. They must love his heavy ball.

I don't think we've managed Wood particularly well here. Sure, he had his paternity leave (so only played a bit of the IPL) but surely he should have been playing a Championship game or two for Durham. Instead he's done nothing for two and a half months, and apparently isn't ready to play. With the Tests being packed into little more than a month, you'd have to question if he actually is going to be ready now.

Would also have picked Woakes if we were going all-seam, you could still have picked Tongue if you wanted to and left out one of the three seamers from Edgbaston.

Scotland have bowled Sri Lanka out for 245 in their quest to reach the World Cup.

They're through to the final stage anyway - but this game is all about who carries the two points forward.

Meanwhile Bell-Drummond is 266*
Made 300* in the end.

Strange career he's had. Absolutely tons of ability but he's never quite kicked on. He's 30 this summer so the ship has probably sailed in terms of international honours.

Yeah always expected him to be in the mix for call up after Cook went but never quite got the volume of runs he should’ve done.

Scotland way short in the end. Never approached the chase in the right way, threw wickets away and only lasted 29 overs.

Tough for them to qualify with Zimbabwe, the Netherlands and the West Indies still to play.
