Only thing I can think of is the little bit that bangs as you pull it is considered dangerous?? God help us.

Under the Pyrotechnic Articles (Safety) Regulations 2010, Christmas crackers have been specifically named as a category 1 firework, which means they have an age restriction of 16 and cashiers are required to check the age of people buying them.
Boo… not as much fun when there’s a sensible answer.
Looks like there are 4 categories, with crackers being in with sparklers and party poppers, meaning the age restriction is 12 years for those and 16 for the others.
Got me wondering about the alcohol in Christmas Puddings now.

I couldn't sell Christmas crackers on Amazon without providing a ton of paperwork I simply couldn't obtain....but then again I had a product banned by them as it was made with fur (product was actually a plastic keyring that had the word fur on it but you know, close enough. No amount of explaining was enough and they stuck to their stance that somewhere out there is animal that was hunted and skinned for its plastic coat)
Coincidentally noticed yesterday the wife has bought 2 Christmas puddings this year, with and without alcohol, because one of the guests is an alcoholic who has been dry for about 2 years and so there’s a bit of a dilemma around the protocols on that one.
I’m assuming a conventional pudding must contain alcohol at the point of sale and therefore be age restricted? Appears low-alcohol drinks are unrestricted up to 0.5% but no idea how that works with food.
Apparently she went through the cashiered checkout so wouldn’t have seen an alert triggered
I know it’s hardly a big deal but it’s bugging me now.
