The CHRISTMAS Thread

No, you don't put it in the bun. In the same way that I wouldn't tear a phone directory into pieces to fit it through a small letter box.

Haven't had Dandelion & Burdock in about 55 years!!
Not even sure what Burdock is?
(Leaf you rub on nettle stings?)

Seriously, how do you eat it then?
Is it a finger food, pick up sausage, dip into mustard, bite a bit off, then nibble the bun?
or is it a knife and fork jobby, slice the bun, smear with mustard, cut a bit of sausage off put it inside bun and eat that way...
Curious as to how it should be eaten 'properly'?

The first one

Germans also don't really understand what baked beans are. One of the few culinary things they get right as they are rancid.
What?? I've just eaten 3 hotdog sausages, 2 eggs, surrounded by a small tin of best baked beans + a thick slice of brown bread.
Dead tasty!

Was dragged along to a Christmas Market at the weekend. 8 quid for a sausage in a bun. People lapping them up. What cost of living crisis?
I imagine the people really struggling in the midst of said crisis aren't going to the German Christmas market 🤷

Trust me. When you are dependent on a food bank to stay alive German Christmas markets are so low priority they don’t exist.

My mum would bake a dozen mince pies every week when dad was alive. He ate them all year round.
Hero (y) If I did that you'd see me on the news being craned out of a bedroom window to get to a hospital appointment

I do quite like a mince pie as a holiday treat but really only in the actual period of the festivities.

To be honest I have no idea if they are really a thing here. I have seen Christmas puddings on the shelves in Coles this week but I don’t remember seeing mince pies at all yet. I will have a mooch at the weekend.
