The CHRISTMAS Thread

I was whammed Saturday morning by Radio 1 who I thought weren't playing it.

I remain heroically unwhammed.

Whammed. Kid turned the radio on to a random station :/

Likewise still unwhammed. Finished christmas shopping saturday (aside from a selection pack I need to pick up from somewhere).
Tomorrow I'm off to see a live broadcast of Simon Callow doing his version of Charles Dickens 1 man christmas play.

I got Whammed whilst eating lunch at Yo Sushi in Nottingham, bastards!

Almost got done twice when it came on the radio - managed to get there & turn it off before any singing started.

Christmas in Heaven,
What do they do?
They all come to earth and spend it with you.
So save them a space, or an empty chair.
You might not see them, but they will be there.

For all those that won't be with us this Christmas. First year for some, many years for others.

Watched Love Actually last night (other half's choice, but I'll admit I quite like it!).

I've always had a totally irrational dislike of Emma Thompson. I honestly don't know why I dislike her so much - she's been in plenty of films I like, she's clearly very talented but for some unknown reason, I can't abide her.

Weird. There's a very rational reason why I hate most of the other famous people I complain about (Corden, Ross, Chiles etc).

Love Emma Thompson, it's Hugh Grant I can't abide.

Am I the only one that doesn't display their Christmas cards! Can't be doing with string around the place, or sellotaping them to doors, or blu tacking them up the stairs. I put mine in a decorative box and put the box on a table :)

I've barely had any - none of my friends send them anymore, I never do. Which I'm pleased about - writing loads out is just a ballache.

Wish people wouldn't bother. Half the people only send one because they've had one off you and feel they have to send one back.

Christmas trip to the cinema this year, to see Mary Poppins Returns :)

I've had 4 cards from friends but apparently there's a bag full at work to pick up. They're going to wait until the end of the week and then UPS them to me, just in case there's anything semi-important mixed up in there.

So, Love Actually made a huge error towards the end of the film. Martine McCutcheon's character greets her PM fella at the airport, his security detail should've filled her full of lead before she got within 6 feet of him. It would've been more accurate and a far better ending to the movie.
