The CHRISTMAS Thread

What does everyone tend to do and prefer to do on Christmas Eve, stay in or go out?

Start the day with house cleaning (well Angie does that and I will go out and jet wash my lawn) then afternoon settle down to watch a boxset (probably be Blacklist) and stuff my face with numerous meats and cheeses. Bliss.

No ya bloody don't ya lying hound :icon_lol:

I give my staff time off and I cover for them.

Then I drive wherever Mrs cyber has arranged we are going. Being male and hating the season arrangements are down to her. Timing, punctuality, planning are down to me. We usually drive late to miss any traffic. Then we arrive at our destination whereby I open alcohol. This is the pattern for the next 48 hours interrupted only by boxing day football. Depending on the result I will either increase or decrease my !liquor consumption. Then it's off to bed before the wonderful morning of 27th and I cheerfully fuck off back to work safe in the knowledge it's 363 days to go.

That sounds pretty sad Cyber.

Don't know why but I always change the bed linen on Christmas Eve. Always have done. On goes the Festive duvet.

Christmas Eve?

Wrap the presents, put them under the tree. Normally if I am cooking the next day I get a load of early prep done - like doing the sauce base for the "gravy". I tend to make a bit of a flash French brown sauce derivative so doing the early yards and then getting it in the fridge overnight makes it even better. However, Squeeze is cooking this year on Chrimbo day, so I will probably cook us all a snacks and nibbles sort of evening feast. Lots of finger food like tempura prawns, stuffed potato skins, and all that sort of shizzle. Will see what I can pick up in Morrisons for that meal.

I can GUARANTEE that the kids will want to watch Arthur fucking Christmas so I will probably drink beer, wine and read a few comics. That film grates on 45,678th viewing. And if they even suggest Polar Express I will go postal.

I won't be working this Christmas eve, for the first time I can remember. I genuinely have no idea what to do...

Mrs Lupo stayed at mine last Thursday and as she was off Friday, she put my tree and decs up for me during the day and went home so they were ready when I got in for the Cardiff game. Had a real tree 3 or 4 years running but hated disposing of it so it would hang around the patio until April so last year and this its artificial.

I am working on Christmas Eve this year

We have snacks and nibbles too, home baked baguette, different cheeses, wine for lunch, then later on Tenderloin and horseradish sliders, wine! Simple, but we enjoy it :)

Then its pyjama time watching It's A Wonderful Life.

Starting to think about Christmas shopping now, hopefully get most of it done this week.
Christmas Eve will be quiet with a few drinks and some food prep.
Real tree for us every time.
My fav song is Greg Lakes 'I believe in Father Christmas'

Going Christmas Tree shopping tomorrow. Em would really love a real tree, but I prefer the ease, convenience and long term savings of an artificial one.

What's the general TWF consensus on this hot topic???

Used to always have a real one, but since my son deposited the cat on me for a short time (it's been 3 1/2 yrs now so think that he wasn't really telling the truth - really thought I had brought him up better than that ) have gone for an artificial one as she tends to shred the bottom half otherwise (plus there's always a remote chance of electrocution if she damages the lights!)

I'll be enjoying a few pints of Bathams' this Xmas eve :)

Nothing up chez jelly yet, which is amazing as mrs jelly is christmas mad. we got a new artificial tree last year, first new tree in years. mrs jelly isn't keen on real trees cos the branches aren't in the right place for her decorations...

christmas eve is usually building a toy car for me, for mrs jellys grandkids. this year ought to be the last fucking time ever, as the last 3 years have lost my rag. There's a lot of setting gifts under the tree, as everyone piles round here christmas day.

we have a number of christmas cds. My fave, is the lemon jelly one world christmas mix, that I'll dig out this week. It has curtis blows christmas wrappin on it, as well as xanadu!

Last week while out walking saw a pine tree along the stream with one big red bauble on it. So, PPB just had to add one to it last Friday. This morning, there's more been added... and tomorrow more will be added when PPB adds a few more. It's a sight that makes me smile, by Christmas day it's going to be fully decorated :icon_lol:
